Center Shafted Putter Recommendations?

Looking to try a few (obviously will test) center shafted no-offset putter. Lefty eye dominant/right-handed player and have read no offset putters can be good for left eye dominant players. Any recommendations on models to test out? Thanks!

SeeMore that's their bread and butter. They have true CS and ones with a more heel side insertion. 

 

For lead eye dominance something with a topline or no alignment. SeeMore has a few with toplines but can always remove the paint if there is one you like with a flange line.

This is a great recommendation probably one of the best, but I also really like and play the S2S Jailbird, although I think it may be too offset for what you want.

Definitely a lot more options now for CS which is crazy and everything from offset to lots of onset too.

I have tested several and the Scotty Cameron Phantom 5S style is my favourite but then I found the Sub70 Sycamore 010 CS and it has become my favourite putter in many years so you should check it out, it is also much cheaper than the  Scotty Cameron Phantom 5S plus it comes with a weigh kit included for free.

Very good advice from Matt re: SeeMore.

 

Question is, what shape of putter do you like?

 

If you like a blade, then SeeMore has the most options.  If you like a blade-y mid-mallet, then there's lots of good wide blades from Ping, Bettinardi, and Odyssey.  If you like a mallet, then there are centre-shafted Spiders, centre-shafted Pings, centre-shafted Mizunos, etc.

 

Might be worth picking up a few older used putters, and trying them to see which you prefer.

 

Also of note, good to see if your putting issue is alignment (eye dominance), putter head shape (keeping square if you're an SBST putter), toe hang (if you get a little gate-y or rotate-y with your wrists), or offset (too late or early with a gated swing).  Although I like my centre shafted putter (Ping Sigma 2 Kushin C), it looks like I need a square putter to keep it on line.

I have tried a center shafted spider EX. 

 

If you've toyed with how putter CoG affects your stroke then CoG dynamics have the same impact in a center shafted putter. More forward CoG leads to a bit more rotation. Rear CoG leads to less rotation. 

 

The spider tour has moi of 5700 and the bat attack is around 5400. The spider tour has a hair more "stability" than the bat attack...they achieve moi differently (bat attack has a bit more forward CoG). 

 

I putt the odyssey 11 best. It has moi similar to the bat attack but the CoG depth is further back. 

 

So, take a look around and go with what looks good to you and what putter has the same CoG that you've found to work in non-cs putters.

I've got a Cleveland HB #6 center shaft that is a great putter... very coarse face milling though so it has an insert kinda feel to it. But they are very affordable if you are just looking to try it out.

Should have noted this post the first time.

 

One of the largest advantages I believe I have seen from my two recent putter purchases is the square head shape.

 

Had a Spider X previously, and a Cleveland "fang-type" putter, both of which I missed with regularly. 

 

When I switched to a square deep blade, I noticed it provided a nice visual "rectangle" at address and through your putting stroke.  In short, I find this shape of putter easier to keep square and online.

 

To me, this was as important as having a centre shaft (I'm also left eye dominant), and I've noted improved putting with any "square" or blade-like putter I've picked up.  Here are both of them at address.  Almost impossible not to swing them square.

All very different...

 

Alignment will likely play a big part. TM with long lines, bettinardi with smaller line but on the flange, scorty with a very small line in top edge. 

 

I always found center shafted blades and wide blades to setup really funky. That'll be personal preference. 

 

The bettinardi and scotty will.perform very similarly. See my post above about CoG.  

 

From a "feels like the putter face doesn't rotate much" perspective it'll be

 

1 - Spider tour - least rotation, will feel like.putter head doesn't move offline much

2 - Spider tour x - face will just want to rotate a bit more.  

3a - Scotty - it'll be hit or miss. Very forward CoG 

3b - Bettinardi - like the scotty but more variability.

Cleveland putters are great value, loved the HB Soft 2 putter. Someone else said Mizuno OMOI, those faces feel like butter. 

 

However, I would honestly try all the new low/zero torque models everyone is coming out with since they are almost exclusively center shafted.

Ended up picking up a Bettinardi Queen B #8 Center Shaft. So far I really like it. Hasn't been a magical improvement versus my old putter but I definitely think I am putting better - especially on shorter putts.

Got a CS Versa 12 in the mail yesterday from Callaway Pre-Owned.   Can't tell it was ever used!  Took it to the course this morning -- some adjustments in alignment will need to happen but no 3-putts over the 12 holes I played.

Actually looks really good mate! I've never considered rolling a 12 before but that looks epic. Happy putting!
