New Callaway Iron Line for 2025

I have a set of Legacy Blacks that are in nice shape and not getting much wear since I’m playing 15-20 rounds per year these days. Presuming one liked these irons, which I do, has anyone found anything interesting to challenge or knock out the Stensons?

Saw local rep today.  Definitely Ltd release of the Japan x forged (had sample) and what he called x forged fast (no sample).  Also had what looked like a satin ti fusion.  X forged is a July release apparently.

Sounds like the fast model is similar if not the same as the Japanese star model.

Hopefully that July release is just a prediction.  When July comes I'm not touching my current irons.  Too many money games and men's league events that period for me to be tuning my yardages.

 

That being said, Callaway is awful in the players iron dept.   If you're not playing their tiny blades, and don't want raw Xander TCB's.  Yeah there are CB's but they aren't that great.  

 

I'd throw my hat in the ring for those X-Forged I've seen in the Asian market.  Phil rocking those.

Callaway had the same problem Taylormade used to have where TM’s MC irons and the p770 had too wide of a gap. Callaway’s CB’s and Pros have too wide of a gap in size/performance. 
 

A lot of favored retail players irons sit between these two models, like zxi7, t150, mp243, PXG T’s etc. 

 

I would love to see Callaway shrink this gap, possibly make the CB a little larger or easier and/or shrink the apex pro.

I am still rocking the 19 apex pros. Seemed to be the last model they had that were still compact and more of a player's iron with some tech. That said, I had the 18 x-forged prior to my apex. The x-forged were the best feeling iron I have had, I just couldn't get along with the shaft I had in them. I have been waiting years for the x forged to come back around. Almost pulled the trigger on some S-3's but couldn't commit. Come on Callaway, give us something special with the X forged!

Forgot to add that there is a blackout Elyte driver coming as well. Just forgot if it was the TD or regular head.

X forged could challenge the JPX 925 forged for the bag, but who knows what will really come out for us to see.

I would think the ai150 is closer to the 925 forged than the xforged is?  Ai150 and 925 have some help/tech, x forged (if it’s the Japan version) is just solid cb.

I do like a solid forging and lofted properly have played quite a few different sets with sucess, I agree they won't be as forgiving but that is OK. Truth be told I kind of wish I had went with the S3 as I hit both at the fitting and did well with both, the 925 just had that extra gear (loft) that made them so attractive and trying to be sensible went with them.

 

After quite a few rounds the only thing I don't like is the pre worn leading edge, never have got along well with it. Must be my delivery and when its on they are stellar, when off or real hard fairways I tend to miss fat trying to hit down on the ball.

 

Also I am a Callaway homer at heart so there's that..

Is anyone else tired of "who are these for, exactly?" release streams

 

they were rocking, but got totally lost in player and power player category after the 2016 or 18 Apex (can't remember)  but.....Wow....literally nothing I have confidence in terms of category commitment from them

IMHO, the best Callaway X Forged were 2013's! I'd love to see something more along those lines with maybe a little more toe weight than the Japanese X Forged. Close runners up are original TCB followed by the OG 2007 X Forged!
