The x forged are coming…

Can anyone confirm if there will be changes to the design for the US market?

from what I gather from the sets sold on classifieds the heads are light. Makes sense for the jdm market since lighter shafts and graphite are more popular. Also my experience with JDM only models is they always have a TON off offset. Hoping that Callaway makes the right adjustments. Increase head weight to accommodate for typical US standard shafts, minimal offset like other players clubs on the market, mark PW as 10, S20c metal, and Chrome or raw finish (the frosted satin finish looks horrible after a while although it has improved since the 1st gen apex). Cherry on top don’t gouge your consumers on the price.

I would have thought jdm heads would be heavier for the mens version atleast.  Shorter play length and lighter shafts would mean a heavier headweight, not lighter to get swing weight right unless they also play swing weights in the c’s

These look like the set I built/played all last season 👀 unless we used the same ferrules. Did you get these second hand with Oban 115x- in them?

The set I ordered JDM stock came in right around C8-C9 throughout the set.

From my experience with japanaese golfers most fit under 110g shafts a touch under standard length, stiff or less shaft and standard to “small” gripsz  thus they make the heads lighter

Gosh I just wish they weren’t chrome. So used to that brushed steel look lately

JDM market got a raw and black finish along with the standard chrome so maybe the US will get the same? Wouldn’t hold your breath on that though.

Agreed.  Apex CB had double or triple the offset I could tolerate.  Too many nasty left misses in the 2 fittings I did with it.  I'd literally have gone with the Apex MB throughout the bag before putting in a single CB.

If it was double or triple the amount you can tolerate…you want massive onset.

Nope.  The CB has way more offset that's both visually observable and statistically observable than my Pro S-3 irons.  Mizuno may quote that there's offset in their specs, but the size of the irons and the way they sit with the beveled tri-sole configuration means I have a left miss about once every 50 shots instead of 1 out of 5 like I did when testing the Apex CB (and again, I did this twice...once indoors with ProV1 balls and once outdoors with range balls).

I really disliked the bounce and (lack of) on the MB/CB irons from last year.  The Instagram pics I have seen with these new irons appear to have a V sole grind kind of like a Srixon. If true this would be awesome for me at least.

If they’re built after the JDM models they have a pre worn leading edge. They’re great irons!

Ok🙄. It has 1.5 MILLIMETERS in the 7 iron. Thats far from massive offset.

You’re hitting on something I’ve noticed with the s3, they don’t want to go left….almost ever.  My stock shot with them is a high soft cut, and I can get them to draw a bit but I really have to try.  The fitter said they’ve been seeing lots of folks have the same results with the s3, so much it’s unplayable for some.

my 241s don’t have any offset l and they have much more of a left miss.

all that to say I think it’s less about the offset mitigating the left miss and something else with those heads.

You are correct. Not only is it far from massive offset, the Apex CB has less offset than the Mizuno S3 — across the board. Callaway lists their offset in millimeters, Mizuno lists theirs in inches. Have to do a conversion of one of them for an apples to apples comparison.

If you do convert the Apex CB to inches and compare specs the answer is it is a lower offset iron than the S3. The Apex CB also has less offset than the Srixon Zxi7, a popular iron on these boards and pro tours.

I always chuckle at the “offset makes me hook” posts. It’s not the club and it’s not the offset. Total golf myth. Just because it has been repeated forever does not make it true. And in this case, the iron that the specs show actually has less offset is supposedly the hook-prone club. That sure doesn’t support the argument. Golfers hook shots, not the design of the golf clubs.

The purpose of offset is to deepen the rearward CG to boost launch. It works well for that. Give me a high offset club, any old Ping iron for example, and I can hit a fade with it. Or draw it. Offset doesn’t matter for left or right. There are clubs made with no offset. They’re not forgiving and they’re not popular.

So your saying its me not my equipment? Damn. Well looks like its still time to buy new stuff and see if that fixes it.
