New Callaway Iron Line for 2025

Thanks for posting - seems like the current Apex Pro 23 with slightly stronger lofts.  Would love to compare head size of mine vs the new 150 as the current Pro are a bit compact (minus the somewhat thick top line)

Almost like an inbetween of the ai200 and apex pro. Id like to see all 3 of them side by side for a size comparison. Im tempted to switch from the 200 to the 150.

Current Bag Setup:

Callaway Paradym AI Smoke Max 10.5 -- Fujikura Ventus Velocore + Blue 5s

Callaway AI Smoke Max 3HL --  Fujikura Ventus Velocore + Blue 6s

Callaway AI Smoke Max Heavenwood -- Fujikura Ventus Velocore + Blue 6s

4 Iron - Callaway ai200 black -- axiom 105 stiff

5-pw + aw - Callaway ai200 -- Dynamic Gold Mid 100S

Opus 52 10S grind bent to 53 11S -- Dynamic Golf Mid 115 wedge

Opus 56 12S grind bent to 58 14S -- Dynamic Golf Mid 115 wedge

Putter - Custom Toulon New York City 40inch Arm Lock -- LA Golf arm lock shaft

Golf Ball -- Callaway Chrome Tour Triple Track              Grip -- Golf Pride MCC +4 Midsize

Players distance for sure.

The goal for these is to be players distance like spin and ballspeed, with mini game improvement forgiveness across the face, in a compact package.

no comparison to a players cb.

(think p790, cobra 3dp)

But aren’t the ai200 considered a player distance

while the ai300 is a game improvement

No - it’s targeted at the mid to high handicap golfer (callaways words)

the apex ai series are all larger, have more offset, more things to make them foregiving and increase ballspeed (hollow head, stronger lofts, stainless steel cup face)

The apex pro is the players distance iron

the apex cb is the players cb

So the information I heard was that the AI150 are the replacement for the CB. Is that not the case?

When I was being fit for the ai200 (a couple weeks ago) the fitter told me the ai150 was being released in a couple weeks and was a replacement for the apex pro.

The ai150 is supposed to replace the Pro, but they used a 17-4 face plate in the short irons of the ai150, like the face in the TCBs. It’s a little faster face than the forged face the Pro has, with more off-center ball speed retention but also precise. Tour pros like the 17-4 face plate.

The long irons are more like the Pro, the short irons more like the TCB. It’s an interesting iron for sure, looks like a compact head.

Also not much offset at all in the ai150. Less than Zxi7, slightly less than Apex Pro, tracks close to the TCB.

New Level irons, 702CB+ 5-6, 702CB 7-P w/Project X Rifle 5.5

New Level SPN wedges (50SS, 54VS) w/Dynamic Gold s300

Ping Glide 4.0 wedge (58, E grind) w/Dynamic Gold s300

Another difference from the Pro to the 150 is that now cup face is in the 3-7 where the Pro was just 3-5.  As a current Pro player, the 4 and 5 irons have been absolute cannons.  I don’t necessarily agree that the Pros were player distance irons (I remember Johnny Wunder on CC YouTube stating they were players irons when they were released - and given the lofts I agree), but no doubt the 150 are seeming to fall into that compact players distance category.

Its frustrating even trying to keep all the lineups straight sometimes. And I don't see myself as an average consumer....

They’re the same club. Potentially with heavier heads but that’s the only difference.

Why does the AI 150 cost more per club than the AI 200?  Is there a material difference between the two?

Yes, there is a material difference. The ai200 has the cup face in all the heads. The ai150 has cup face in 4-7 irons but switches to the 17-4 forged face plate in the 8-G, which is the same construction as the Apex TCB.

Thanks but just a golf gear junkie! And I had been waiting on these after experiencing the ease of hitting the ai200 5 iron (was gifted that one and I bent it 2 degrees weak.) It’s outstanding. Easy to see the designs on this type of iron have gotten far more dialed in.

I thought the Mav Pro was a very nice iron but small, the Rogue ST Pro was really good but sounded loud, I did not care for the feel of the latest Apex Pro. The ai200 feels excellent and impressed me on the golf course. I kept pulling off nice shots from tough positions. The design certainly helps.

I was pleasantly surprised to learn yesterday that the ai150 short irons have the same face as the TCB. I ordered the 6-G 1 degree weak with PX Rifle shafts last night. Plus, I have a set of New Level 702CB+ that I really enjoy so I am good on pure forged irons.

Curious. With Ai designing these clubs. Does that mean prices will come down as less human engineers are necessary?

I doubt it. From what i understand and i could be wrong here so I'm sure someone will correct this but the majority of the ai design is in the face thickness and what Callaway calls control points in the face. Basically thousands of tiny spots in the face in different thicknesses to create the forgiveness and launch characteristics they are looking for. Most of the club is still designed by the R&D department at Callaway with help from ai for the ai10x face.

Has any fitters compared the ai150s to the 2024 Apex Pros yet?  I know they’ve just launched but wondering if it’s worth looking into upgrading with this 2x trade-in only lasting a month.  I’ve played the Pros for the last 1.5 years and these 150s are intriguing. There are several videos comparing the 150s to the 200s but a I think a more valuable comparison would be the Pros vs 150s. Thanks!

Right lol. Also depends if you got your current clubs used or not. I got my ai200's for 700$ off ebay. 1200$ trade in is making it really difficult not to get the new ai 150.

Yeah, never got along w/Cally clubs. But from what I read here, the trade in program sounds like it rocks!

Just hit them today. I would say performance is closer to the 200. Looks are closer to the pro. I wasn’t a big fan of the pro’s but the 150’s feel great and perform well.
