This made me giggle a bit, in that if anything Callaway copied themselves. Bettinardi made Hogan (owned by Callaway by the end of that year) the Baby Ben and Big Ben putters in 2003, 22 years ago😆. Jim Furyk, Callaway staff at the time, won the US Open that year with it. I gamed it for 2 years. BF ugly like the LAB putters that COPIED IT to a degree, but it really rolled the rock well. Pure innovation and originality in an industry that’s been around this long and is subject to restrictions in design, will rarely be achieved by anyone.

How would one blend the X forged and the X Forged Max?  Lofts seems to be too diff between the two.

I would think you’d go a degree weak or degree strong at the transition point and they’d blend pretty nicely.

I don't know...there is no Max 4 iron.  Bending the Max 6i and 5i 1 degree weak and then having a second Max 5i bent strong as a 4i?  Feel like they missed here a bit for blending which is happening in basically every players back these days.

my 241s don’t have any offset l and they have much more of a left miss. 

 

all that to say I think it’s less about the offset mitigating the left miss and something else with those heads.

 

I even had tip weighting put in mine to adjust the swingweight and love the smooth fade I get with these with anything left being an alignment mistake on my part, or a REALLY REALLY bad swing, which is fortunately fairly rare for me.

Even *IF* what you are saying has an ounce of truth, that LAB copied this… there is one major difference. LAB may have gotten inspiration from an obscure putter, certainly not mainstream, where as Callaway tends to copy or get inspiration from whatever is hot and selling at the time. Also Im not bagging just on callaway because they certainly arent the only ones doing it. They make the least effort to differentiate though, as the copy looks very obvious lol.

Hence the statement “ to a degree”. Copied does not necessarily imply willful intent. My point was that Callaway draws inspiration from the Hogan putter a lot more than the Lab. Eye test alone should suffice. I agree Callaway never would have resurrected this hideous design without LAB’s recent success though.

It’s funny.  This started by someone saying Callaway copied srixons sole, which wasn’t true (for proof see the equipment junkies video in this thread)

 

Since that was clearly wrong, we have to find something Callaway copied, am I right (double downer rejoice!)

The X Forged cavity is a knock off of the Bridgestone J40

You can still find those J40 CBs on eBay if you’re convinced the X Forged are just a copy. Save yourself some money.

I thought the J40 DPC was a lot nicer. The New Level 702CB+ in my bag now reminds me of those.
 

A lot of irons look similar. We like being reminded of irons we loved. It is probably silly to buy new ones when old ones work just as well, but that never deters me!

I’m just messing around I actually like the X Forged and I loved the J40’s when I played them many ages ago.

If they’re sourced the same as the JDM ones, no. The set I had said made in China, assembled in Japan. The stupid expensive X Prototypes are fully made in Japan and were $4000 on tourspec when they released in small batches earlier this year.

Here in Aus at least...never. Even Callaway themselves aren't getting fitting heads; they're purely for custom order as a 4-PW set
