These soles will play close to the same as the Srixon's. They are not low bounce by any means.

Literally every discussion from people with these clubs *in hand* is talking about how OEMs are basically stealing the V-sole from Srixon. Wunder says as much in his podcast last week.

But yeah, I guess it's not as 'pronounced' or something to your expert eye. Couldn't possibly be that you said something wrong, again, and then doubled down on it. Certainly doesn't happen on half the threads here these days...

I’ll just leave this here….explains it better than the pictures (which I still get an error trying to post)

he literally compared them to Srixon, and literally shows and speaks to how they are different

Are these not the same as the X forged that was released over a year ago in Japan that were for sale on tour spec? Decent amount of tour players using as well? So technically this isn’t a new iron just now being produced for US market?

From what I can tell, there are not any major differences. Visually the same. Same badging/ logos.  Same loft, lie, length standard specs. Although there are some minor ones. The first being the JDM is made from S20C and USD/EU release from 1020. I’m assuming Callaway is able to increase the head weights of the US/EU versions to accommodate for typical standard shafts in these markets. The JDM release was reported to be lighter. Couldn’t find any info on offset with the JDM so that could be another difference.

Not to mention it is well known, I guess not by everyone, that it was Terry Koehler who designed the v-sole for Eidelon, Hogan and other club companies way before Srixon’s debuted with the Z745. Srixon’s is just like it.

Dont need to. Well I watched a little bit of Wunders video. But I mean a company known for copying others work….. just sayin.

Well if you think Callaway copied srixons sole…. You may want to watch TEJ’s video (also a member here).  He explains it well.

(spoiler alert.  Callaways sole is similar to edel and mizuno, not Srixon….dispute what Wunder said)

XF Max seem so much like my old Nike VRS Forged irons.  Large cavity with undercut behind the face.   Being a one piece forging they do look very interesting.   Excited to try them when they hit the local golf stores.

Honestly they look more like 243s, and zx7s had a baby then adopted 925f sole.

Don’t the Cobra SS Forged from 2002 with “Trisole” pre-date Eidolon/New Hogan?  And I think there was another iron set the SS forged took inspiration from as well.

I don’t know. Maybe. Koehler goes back a long way. His first v-sole was not with Eidolon. He worked for 3 companies before then. But I can say Srixon’s was definitely not the first. And I don’t care who was first. All these companies are aware of what everyone else is doing. Who has been copied more than Ping the past 50 years?

I personally do not think the Callaway tri-sole is a copy of the Srixon v-sole. I don’t hate the Srixon v-sole but I also don’t think it helps me. I would hope the Callaway sole would be more subtle and not as pronounced.

i did find the video interesting in which Emiiano Grillo found the new irons stickier through the turf than his TCBs. I realize he is a world-class golfer who will notice such things more than most, but he found the X Forged heads a little sharper on the leading edge. Of course, some players prefer that over a rolled leading edge. I guess Grillo is not in that camp. Max Greyserman has the X Forged in play and he raves about them. He’s playing great golf with them.

To be fair the tcbs really don’t get into the turf much at all for an iron that size.  Kinda of bounce and glide across it.  (Yes you can take a divot with it)

I’m going to get a set of x forged and put them up against my s3s.  Those mizuno take a super shallow divot, and it’s fast.

Wunder rambles on about a lot of things and has a tendency to be wrong a lot. He also thinks/acts/insinuates every tour pro is his best friend. Look forward to the pics 👍🏻

He's pretty hard to watch.

New irons look awesome, look forward to getting them into my hands.
