NCAA Settlement and Roster Limit Fallout Thread

Recommended Posts

Nebraska had a $6.7M surplus in 2024 off of over $76M in donations.  Let me say that again... SEVENTY-SIX MILLION in one-time donations.  Hardly swimming in cash.  Market goes down a bit and donations go to $40M and they are in trouble just like everybody else.

That $6.7M surplus hardly pays for the extra $22M that they need for NIL if the settlement gets approved.

That’s their mess, their choice, deal with it.

Sure, they might all be losing money, but so does the math department—that’s what tuition fees cover. It boils down to how they choose to allocate their funds. Some schools go all-in on flashy football programs, others spread the wealth, some drop sports entirely, and others just cut players. It’s all about the big schools’ priorities.

Wrong again. Government Subsidies and Academic endowments keep the Math departments open. Feds giving these big D1 institutions 100's of millions of dollars each to keep the doors open.

.gov keeps sports afloat as well at the land grant schools. endowments for sports exist too.

try to keep up...

Personally, I blame Hemingway for all of this.  Many of his characters are ivy league educated and played football or boxed (the largest sport at the time) and somehow both lament and are proud of their athletic days.  Ivy League could be A10 and college sports Beer League Wednesday Night if not for Ernest.

I am sure that you might have a good point or two to make, but you are not the person to be doing outreach.  Is there somebody else that you all can send to engage with the public?

We’re getting along perfectly fine, no thanks to you. The parents we’ve helped agree, but you wouldn’t know about that, would you?

You seem too simple to understand that I don't have to deal with it.  The athletes at their school will be dealing with it when people force more financial burdens on behalf of some class that they represent.

Oh, bravo, Sherlock, you finally got the damn point. 🙄 Well, look at you, finally stumbling into the class conflict! Took you long enough, champ.

Okay, explain to me, like I’m a 5th grader, how I had anything to do with this mess. Go on, I’m waiting... 🙄

>>>(Just so you know, three folks from LA reached out to me in the last half hour about drafting a letter, unaware of the upcoming brief deadline. I’m guessing you nudged them our way—thanks for that, I really appreciate it!) 😊

Does any of these parents that you helped on this board care to come on here and discuss their impacts, how any of you helped and what might come?

I know that this is all bluster right now since none of it is actually done and no help has actually been given, but I would love to hear their side of potential impacts and help that they think that they might be getting.

I have an actual D1 kid whose school has opted into the settlement and I need nothing from you.

Why are you here?   This is a useful thread without your comments and you are just going to get it locked.

Telling everyone they are too stupid or uninformed to understand is not a compelling or useful argument.

Why? Because we’re the House objectors with the “master list.” Whoever you are, you’re clearly out of the loop. Check the FYI above!

Most of the real information is right there on Instagram and in the letters filed on the docket. A few of our recent stories have also been shared in other threads—and through those, we’re hopeful we've helped save at least a few golfers.

I have no idea.

And I never said you did. But until your recent comment about the class issues—when you finally understood what’s really at stake—your information wasn’t all that helpful. That said, your posts helped us reach a few more people, and for that, thank you.

Their roster spot, taken from them in a class conflict. Or maybe you just don’t get the title of this thread—hard to say.

So, nobody?  I get it.  Too bad since I would have liked to hear their side and learn some things.

If you think that you have done more than given anybody a stay, then you are even more a fool than you appear.

Again, I hope that you get your stay.  Go and get what you can.  Just don't be a dbag and brag about it, claim victory and act like some other group will not be hurt.

You may be mistaken, and perhaps a bit lost on some of this—but your involvement still helped, and for that, we're genuinely grateful.

This is where you're way off base. The Objectors aren’t after anything. If you have an issue, it's with the Plaintiffs, the NCAA and the schools—not us. Honestly, I have no idea how you arrived at this conclusion, but it’s not exactly the product of sound reasoning.

Heard from an associate AD that if they have to pay for even half of their roster limited kids to return, then 13 staff are going to be let go - admin staff, trainers, analytic and logistic people.  That is their problem though, right?  Deal with it?

Enough of the gaslighting.  Nobody is falling for it.  I guess maybe some phantoms that are with you now?

See if you can get some of those new phantoms that joined up because of me to get on here and have a discussion.  There are folks who really care and might be able to offer help to some people.

That’s correct—just as the Judge stated. I can’t fix the mess created by the NCAA, Berman, and Kessler.

Take a look at the latest supplemental brief filed just a few hours ago—it explains exactly why so many are choosing not to speak out. Spoiler: fear of retaliation.

@dmh7443 I'm trying hard to follow along here. Who are you? Are you one of the attorneys for the objectors? or? Where do we send a letter if we would like to write one? Can we remain anonymous? Could you post a link to the laterst supplemental brief you mentioned that was filed a few hours ago. It's not on roster limit objection on IG. Do you run that?    I appreciate all your posts and replies on this thread. I'm still trying to wrap my brain around all this. Thank you

At Roster Limit Objection, we operate anonymously—and it’s been a bit quiet the last few days due to dorm move-outs!

We were the ones behind the wave of nearly 120 letters submitted to the docket after the fairness hearing, which was an incredible moment.

One of our attorney collaborators mentioned the idea of submitting additional letters earlier today. I’ll look for that post and share it here soon.

Awesome! Thank you for posting the latest brief. I would love to submit a letter. This has been very stressful on our oldest son.

Thank you for what you have done up until now and thank you again for all this information.
