Water the night before. Dessert for dinner should be some variety of fruit(s) with no added sugar. Morning of, a light breakfast, eggs, toast, and a banana. Minimal coffee. If you can skip coffee without getting the caffeine withdrawal headache, skip it. If you’re like me and addicted…minimum possible to avoid the headache. 
 

There may be something else going on if you’re getting that exhausted and dehydrated riding. Golf even in hot humid conditions isn’t very strenuous if you’re riding. Are you taking any meds that can cause heat sensitivity or encourage dehydration? No need to answer here as that is pretty personal, but maybe have a think about that too.

Central NJ here. The high tomorrow and Wednesday is 100. RealFeel probably >110 (as Wednesday is going to be humid as well). Alexa is already giving me heat and air quality warnings. But if I was playing this year, it would be no big deal. Golf's an outdoor sport. 

 

And in truth, the older I get, the more I love the heat. The cold gets into my bones (odd, as I grew up in Michigan, and used to love winter sports). Now? 100 is fine, but anything below 45ish in December and I'm sitting in front of my fireplace at home. As of yet, Coach YouTube has no instructional videos about how to properly grip a club when I'm wearing mittens (Vardon and overlapping are out), and my usually fairly consistent swing plane doesn't work that well when I'm wearing seven layers.

I'm going the other way. On the cold side, anything playable is fine. 30s, whatever so long as the course is playable.  Heat is starting to bother me and not so much the heat but the sun. If golf were in the shade, fine, I can do any temp. I ride more as the temp approaches 100 but its really the sun intensity I have trouble with.  My comfort zone has shifted a bit toward the cold I guess but neither extreme is much fun.

Been a weird summer. June was hot in much of the west, midwest, and midAtl.  Cool-ish in the center.  July, we'll see the stats in a few days but the Mid Atl has remained nastier than normal it seems to me. SE has been rough too I think. Not sure about everyone else.

The Pacific Northwest along the coast is amazing from April to October. Hardly any rain and perfect temperature to walk. Temp ranges from mostly  60 to 80 Fahrenheit during the day.

I’m playing tomorrow where the temperature is supposed to reach 97*F with an index of 100*-105* according to tonight’s forecast. We’ve been in a heat wave since Monday with poor air quality coming down from Canada (fires). I haven’t played since Saturday, which is a huge layoff for me (3-days). I understand the physics involved with warm air (less density), but haven’t seen the extreme gains you report. I’ll report back after tomorrow’s round, if I survive the extreme heat and air quality.😉

I might have to change my stance on playing in the heat... Not sure what's up today, I mean it was 80+ cloudy and humid but I played my best when it's sunny and hotter last week. Today felt stiff and unnatural.

 

Maybe it's just me but I couldn't strike the ball well at all. Only putting was fine.

Record for me was about 6 years ago. SCGA Amateur at Mission Hills CC in Rancho Mirage (the Palm Springs area).

118 on day one and 124 on day 2. 

Now THAT was hot.

Going to Indio next weekend.  Will be playing Westin Mission Hills Pete Dye course and PGA West Stadium course.  Luckily I snagged early am tee times, however, temps will be 100+ during peak time.  Thin and light colored clothes, plenty of sun screen, a cold neck towel, water and a cooler with lots of ice will do the trick.  I go almost every year in August to celebrate my birthday with my brother and two cousins.

Playing a qualifier in the DFW area next week in Garland, weatherunderground.com says its 107 there right now.....   The forcast is for some cooling, then warming up again.  It says it will be a chilly 98 for the high when I'm supposed to play.   Then I come home to play our club championship for 3 days in similar tempretures.  I hope I can do 4 days in a row.   Why we play the club championship during the hottest time of the year in Texas baffles me.  I guess they don't want to run into football and hunting season in the fall......

This is the day I played Tamarisk CC. It was a very hard course to get on at the time so I didn’t want to pass on the opportunity. I think we lasted 8 holes. Zero breeze and it felt like putting your face in an oven.

 

When I was much younger (and dumber) my main golfing buddy and I would occasionally be the first ones off in the morning at Indian Canyons South (prior to the renovation.) We’d play 18, come in for a snack and beverage and go out again. After 36 we come in for a sit down lunch and go out again to play 54. I drank water constantly throughout the round and never had to use the restroom once. We’d both look like boiled lobsters after, and it took a couple of days to fully recover. Young and dumb for sure.

Only time I ever fainted in my life was in Palm Springs when I was "young and dumb" (now I'm just dumb). Buddy and I went out to play early in the morning with a "coupon book" to play some nice course in the middle of August. It was 90 degrees at 7:30am when we got there and then we started hitting range balls. For like ... an hour. How's that for dumb?

And what people don't understand is that, while the Coachella Valley is VERY dry, it's not dry ... on  a golf course ... in the morning! Oh my God, the water that they dump on the course over night is evaporating so fast that it feels like you are in a sauna. I passed out on the third hole and woke up in the clubhouse!!

About 10 years ago one of my regular playing partners passed out during the club championship during the first week of August here in East Texas, last day of 3 of sweltering heat, on the 17th hole.  He was near the lead as the day started but as the back nine progressed he went down hill.   Said he was feeling fine but he was losing his game.  On 17 while driving his cart he just passed out, and fell out of the moving cart in the middle of the fairway.  They had to call EMS, and they drove down the fairway to come get him.  He was mid 50s at the time, and ever since he is very careful in the heat about hydration, etc.,
