Anyone else interested in sharing how golf league went this week?

We played the Front nine at Hawthorne Hills in Ozaukee County. Last time I shot 57. This time 49, with a stupid 10!

Partner shot 46 and we took 13 points. Not bad.

Most interesting thing was my 9 wood was my most reliable club off the tee. Had 3 pars tonight with one birdie putt. So much improvement.

I'm curious about that 9 wood. I should just tee off with that all the time. Scoring would be better. Any thoughts?

Tonight's league was brutal. Between 45 & 50 with a northeast wind at 15 mph. Hawthorne Hills is at the top of a ridge, so wind on every hole.

Scoring was just as brutal. We only took 5.5 points. Had to give 18. I could barely swing. Had maybe 5 good shots all night. Felt exactly like my first round of the year.

I'm wondering now why I ever agreed to sub in this golf league.

Nothing was working tonight. Shot 8 over my average. Couldn't hit a drive to save my life. Fairway woods were pretty awful. The only thing that worked was my putting. Mostly two putted with two one putts. And chipping was good. It just took forever to get up to the green. So I guess I can find a couple of positives out of a horrible night.

I was glad when it was over.

My takeaway from this relates to the mental side of the game.

Previous week was played with someone I'm much more compatible with, who doesn't compete with his own partner. That was different this week. You expect competition from the other team, but not from your playing partner. At least I don't.

Other rounds on that nine were played alone, where this round was in front of an audience. I think that might make a difference.

The pace of play is much slower, another mental aspect. So, those things contributed to a bad league night.
