How do you have your camera placed? I'm guessing just propped up on something and not a tripod or stake, because that is not a good camera angle. It should be lined up with your hands, and it should be straight. You replied to that specific part of iacas' post, but really didn't take it to heart.

It's on a mini-tripod on a chair. Not sure what else I could do but if it's not good no worries.

You can probably make that setup work, but at least make it straight. Were you using the front-facing camera on your phone? Couldn't you see that it was really tilted? Take some care to really ensure your camera is lined up properly before hitting any balls.

I do have quite a few and that's a good idea. I was using this swing aid called the "hanger" and also had purchased Monte's no turn cast video.

I'm going for a lesson with the guy that my kid did a golf camp with in the morning.

You have older videos from when you were playing better? Post one of those

Mildly funny version:

You could care enough to make it level and put it in the right place. Of all the people here, including those giving you free help and advice (whether you agree with it or not), you should care the most about your golf swing. These videos say "I can't even be bothered to get the camera within 10° of level."

Grip should be closer to the green line than the red:

I appreciate the input. I apologize, behind my net setup is a huge tree with roots everywhere so not a good spot for a dtl. Also I can't use the front cam, it's too close.

Hopefully can get something going, I shot 47 this morning so tomorrow I'll be a 16cap. It's bewildering to see shots that used to be routine flying ob 80yds left or right. I'm not even using 3piece balls anymore, losing too many.

Are you using a wide angle lens mode on the rear facing camera or something?

It looks like there should be plenty of room to me. Are you as close to the net as possible without hitting it with your club?

I've been practicing using the "hanger" aid on my PW, 7i and driver last few days. Also got the tour tempo app and using 24/8 as recommended by the man himself on instagram.

1st one was a big high cut leaving a PW in from 400 and change then a 6i from 175 middle of the green.

only slightly better than what it was

The instruction video I got it from said butt of club against left palm, like when I'm bouncing it with 2 fingers the butt goes there. I think it was from Padraig Harrington but maybe I got it wrong. If you have an example I'd like to see what's correct.

It’s too diagonal in turn hand and should be running through the base of your fingers

This video will show you all about the grip

I first saw that grip of more in the fingers from Manzella years ago from some video I bought. I need to try it again, definitely easier to wrist hinge using that grip but feels different because requires more ulner deviation of the wrist to address the ball.

It does. I have to have it a little more angled in my hand because of an old wrist injury.

If you could stop your backswing just before your left shoulder passes under your chin and makes you raise your head up out of the way, I think you'd be much better off. Instead, your swing gets too long, the club dips and crosses the line, and you get stuck coming down. You have to hang back, and try to lift the ball into the air. Balance gets all out of whack.

Went for the lesson this morning. Just working on path a little more in to out and clubface less shut. Changed nothing in my grip, setup or swing. I guess going to work on more of a push draw.

Lessons are tough. I've had at least a dozen and never made much difference.

I appreciate the feedback. It's frustrating having spent a little over $300 on instruction this year and gone up 2 strokes. I think for now I'm just going to lower my expectations, have fun and just be content I'm going to be playing in the 88-94 range.

I want to echo what the more qualified folks have already said, but add a dash of the most polite as possible "I told you so" based on your original thread, which might not be 100% fair but i'll explain.

I saw every update you posted there, which were many over the last couple years, and personally I didn't respond to any of them because you were never able to address how badly you lose control over the club and the shaft plane at the top. Aside from the comments about grip which are being harped on more here (and I agree with them) what @KMeloney said above was exactly what I highlighted for you back in 2022. You responded with the following:

Wrist is also another project. You see it get a little better in 1st video. Get there. just need to stop there.

Also I have an old poorly healed broken bone in my right wrist. So although I can't do a DJ or Sergio move I can do better than this.

Now i'm not sure about the right wrist issue here....but I didn't see one video you posted where that core move of flopping the club severely across the line at the top ever changed. You did say you can do better (and I agree), but you haven't yet in that regard. Each update video you posted included comments about how much better you were getting and I didn't want to be the Debby Downer and say "this isn't going to last" because it appeared to me like you were getting better via repetition, not actual "improvements" if that makes sense. You were getting better at managing a bad thing, not fixing the bad thing.

Now with that said you ARE actually rotating with your pelvis much better than when you started, so props for that! You're really going to have to get your head around cleaning up how badly the club moves at the top though like @iacas pointed out. He's right....you can not control the club and it's plane well when you let it flop across the line at the top. It's a losing battle that will only get harder as you get older.

I've been trying out the grip and had to google ulner deviation but that's what it is that looks/feels so weird. I even put the hangar aid on and with the corrected grip I had to adjust it back clockwise a little. I guess that's a good thing as I put so much pressure on it right away I could not really even make a backswing.

I appreciate everything you guys do to help. Sometimes playing worse can be good to come back and totally reassess. I was playing better and advice you and others gave in that thread got me to a place I was able to play off 12.8-13.2 for over a year with an 84.5 scoring avg. Basically kicking butt in any handicapped leagues or events for a nice stretch, enjoying golf. But now, ya, the bubble gum is falling off and the leaks are getting worse. Like I said too, I've tried doing in person lessons, skillest lessons, bought a couple different "improvement plans". But you are right, I need to fix some fundamentals for good. I hit balls literally everday, practice way more than I play so need to work on the correct things. Basically why I started this thread, I was at a loss for what and how. For intance just stopping overswinging. I don't feel like I'm swinging past my full shoulder turn but I'm going way past in reality. I try to swing shorter, my timing is off and I hit it like crap. Then my swing speed also drops off 12-15mph.. I go back to the big overswing, crank a dozen 7irons with 118-120 ballspeeds into the net and I'm like "ok that works".

I worked a lot on the grip. I've revisited Monte's no turn cast video as well as just trying to keep club in front of me.

Last 3 9's have been 40,38,42 taking me up to 3rd place out of 24 in our league.

This is my 5H. I later hit the green with a perfect cut from 185 with it during my match on the #1 cap hole. I'm trying to stick with cut shots primarily and have been hitting tee shots a lot better.

I'm not messing with any videos as I'm finally back on a decent run. I had one odd league 9 where I hit 4 balls ob left but bounced back. In club championship qualifier I hit a tree left the yanked the second ob left for a triple on 1. Then settled down and shot 79 net 66 to tie for 1st out of 24.

Top 8 go to match pIay where I won my first match on the 18th hole coming back from 2 down on 15tee to win 3 of last 4. Into final 4 for club champ net.

In league I moved up to 4th of 24 and won last 2 matches moving our team into 2nd.

So thanks for the help and I'll post more videos after the competive stuff is over. I got a good swing thought and want to keep riding it. 😂 Trending down, love seeing all the asterisks on recent rounds with my lowest in competition. Screenshot_20250724_212611_GHIN.jpg.a0776715e6d2555ca1db1bbc99052411.jpg
