Not really, t150 have a distance slant to them and data shows they’re not overall forgiving. 

 

The i2xx series are closest to clubs like p770. Normal lofts but as forgiving as possible. For me their target goal is perfect. Based on the data out so far I don’t need to change from my i230 set which is great because I really do not like the appearance of these new ones.

Ping doesn’t release a new version unless it has technological advances over the iron it replaces.

 

Or sales of the current iron begin to drop off.

Funny thing I just checked my Ping Nation account which has my Webfit information.  It already updated my recommendation to the I240.  Oddly enough it never recommended the I230, always put me in the I530.

I've tried them, and I found that same shaft the BPS apex a little lower. They also "sit" a little more closed, but that's cosmetic. I don't want to say much about distance because it wasn't a controlled test, but I'd guess the 230s are a couple yards farther. If you need less height, the BPS is for you. If you need more, the 230 is for you. If you need a much higher, softer landing ball, the 240 is for you.

 

I'm sure everyone is going to crucify one or the other or whatever, but the truth is that one of these heads is more right for you than others. That doesn't make the others wrong; just wrong for you. I do wish that came across more. I'm more interested in a better dispersion in a lower static weight, but that's goldilocks stuff.

It's a weird test without checking what's going on. I doubt Ping has the same findings to be fair. They're not in business to release duds. It happens, but this doesn't seem to be a full story.

That 530 recommendation was STRONG on the algorithm.

Watched about 10 review videos.

 

They sound consistently bad/klacky in each, indoors and out, regardless of what the tester was told by PING to say. "They feel so soft".

Yeah i feel like they were given a script, I’ll be testing them out later this month so let see.

4 handicap, played i230 for 2.5 years, recently did a fitting comparing BPS and mizuno pro s3 to gamers.
for me the blueprint S had an incredibly similar flight and trajectory on good strikes but marginally less forgiving, less than I expected though and a better feel. loved the pro s3 and ball striking has been at a spot where it felt like a justified leap so I pulled the trigger on a set of mint 923 tours for half the cost off 2nd swing (everything I’ve seen says they’re identical). If price were less of a factor I’d probably have gone BPS though and think if you hit the middle Blueprint S could be the way, or try to do a combo set with 240 in the long irons. 6 rounds in and I adore the 923 tours, very happy with my choice

Loft wise I wonder how these would combo with Blueprint S. ie go 5,6,7 with i240 and then switch to BPS for short irons.

If nothing else at least the i240s don't have way more grooves than the BPS like the i230 did, which made combo sets look weird to switch between the number of grooves IMO.

I am looking at simialar irons right now. Can you expand more on what you found between i230, S-3, and Blueprint S. Sounded like you liked the S-3 best but then said if price were less you would have gone Blueprint S. Would be interested in how the 3 compared performance wise.

I'm in a similar boat and also seriously looking at the Srixon ZXis (likely combo of 5s and 7s) and then will also hit the BPS, i530s and i240s.

What's getting me is $217 per iron with stock steel...I paid $125 per for my i210s.  Granted, that was late 2018, and inflation is what it is, but almost double?  The whole point of the i-series was that it was forgiving enough for a mid and good enough for low/tour, while still being affordable.  A T100 is $206 per???  What are we doing here?  I'm not one of the poors or anything and I get that this is WRX, but I doubt the bang for buck is going to be there.

Loved the i230, good distance control and spin, maybe ballooned here and there but found BPS to basically do all of i230 things in a compact and better sounding package, Pro S3 looked and sounded better to me, bit worse forgiveness although it still does well with the thin heel. probably would have picked BPS over the S3 but opted for 923 tour due to availability / price and a very negligible difference between it and S3.

Curious to see if they lowered the spin with this model since the primary concern for a lot of the tour players seemed to be actually overspinning the i230s. And that was true even for the i59s. Seems like Ping has the opposite problems of a lot of companies that have with their players distance type irons. Just a ton of spin on all the clubs.

Thanks!! Yep I don’t miss the middle by a ton, toe side is my miss. Looks like I’ll be looking to hop down to a more players type set.

Yeah. I was in the mix during the initial roasting. I’ve seen far worse looking heads get far less roasting. 
I think it was the ‘pile on’ effect and ppl that perhaps just don’t like PING in general. Also a couple members seemed highly offended by the negative comments. So I’m sure a few were just trolling/poking those guys.

I think there are also some i-series players who were hoping for something different and are disappointed.  I suspect they will come around if they hit them and notice and improvement, but all they have now are some pictures of an ugly backside.

Yeah, I was gonna say. There have been far worse heads out there lol. 

That makes sense. PING does get a bad rap, but if they ever focused on marketing, they would do a lot better.

Yeah, I think this is right on target. I'm a big Ping fan and have loved the i230s. I've said I'm probably going to buy the i240s -- I'm probably just always going to buy every release Ping comes out with in the i2XX line, to be honest -- but I hate, hate, hate the carbon badging.

 

Equipment manufacturers choose to roll their new products out with pictures first, weeks or months before consumers can hit them. So yeah, of course people react to the visuals first.
