1. Getting some strong Vokey vibes from the back. 

2. Why are they already changing the shape??

As someone who loves the Jaws Forged wedges, I’m sure I’ll buy these like every other Callaway wedge, and I will then view them unfavorably in comparison.

Really like these!  Have no clue what Callaway is doing.  Opus has been out for like 5 minutes.  But if they are good...bring 'em on.

Opus ranked 24th of 26 on another popular sites top wedge test. However you want to slice the data that’s pretty damning.

I think they look pretty good, though nearly anything in comparison to the original Opus is an upgrade.

I agree, a bit confusing but I like the look of these much more than the regular Opus release. Probably due to the aforementioned Vokey vibes.

I had no clue. Yikes. They seem to work for me, although I went back to Jaws Forged for the early season, but I played Opus most of last year and thought they were good. No?

I am guessing the shape and styling is trying to get Callaway wedges into the bags of the staffers that continue to play Vokey wedges.

 

Also not alot of love for the Opus on tour, still a lot of staff playing Jaws.

Be kind to me when I ask the question…wedge accuracy? Like I’m a really good wedge player and outside of grinds I truly can’t tell a difference between any of them. If the grind works for my aoa or the way I play I don’t care how it looks. It’s a wedge. If you give me a grind in any brand I get along with it stays in the bag. The grind is the most important part I would think.

Same. Love my jaws forged c-grinds and I have two backup sets I've been slowly amassing when I see them pop up in the tour raw finish.

Agreed with OP much prefer jaws raw in shape, and while I’ll agree on the grind comment sometimes I just don’t like how the wedge looks or sets up I’m not even going to bother with it

They probably got a ton of negative feedback from their contract guys and needed to come out with something new to satisfy them. Opus are horrendous IMO

I played Callaway wedges for years. Opus and Opus platinum are why I no longer do. They added too much bounce to standard grinds and I didn't get the same green side check I once did. I hope the next wedges are better.

These look good. The og opus almost look like I have to shank it to hit the sweet spot. The groves are so far on the left of the face.

Roger Cleveland’s MD2 wedge is the best wedge Callaway has ever done, and I’m STILL playing them. Interested to see what Roger does at Cleveland, would love to see him resurrect this timeless design.

with all due respect.........  the best Callaway wedge was this baby.. the 2008 X Forged.
