Mizuno st max 3 fairway

been playing the 3 and 5 for a year and a half. Went to a fitting a couple weeks ago. Fitter had me hit mine, just said theres nothing I can even get close to the numbers you are producing with it. Back in the bag, and they are some of my highest confidence clubs in my bag. I took 15 years away from the game, I came back and started to put a new bag together, went and hit tons and tons of woods and was shocked how good these felt compared to TM, callaway, ping, etc. Let me say, its shocking how good and easy fwy woods have become to hit, especially off the fairway. I was blow away how good I hit them all and how good they performed. When I walked away from golf 15 years ago, my 5w was good like 65% of the time off the fwy and my 3w was really just another driver that didnt go as far. Now I can hit both with ease, even from questionable lies. I was a big mizuno iron guy back in the day, still am today, never thought in a million years I would play mizu woods, but they performed just as good, if not better, than all the other companies and it will take a lot to replace.

Do you normally have spin issues with fairways?  That’s my only concern as I can get some high spin fairways on my off days.

your right about the mizuno woods.  I randomly hit a stz 230 a couple weeks ago.  It was shockingly consistent.  Not quite as fast as my gt3( maybe like 1-1.5 mph ballspeed lower) but was way easier to hit.  If I have another good round with the stz driver, the gt3 is getting sold

What do you mean by spin issues? If im hitting real good, I play just a touch of a fade but generally these clubs are just bullet straight shots. I naturally hit everything really high. My 5w carries about 245-250 and I can hold greens as I get about 5 feet of rollout depending on green firmness. 3W carries 270-280 and rolls out a touch more. Just a touch of lead tape on the bottom of both to bring swingweight up to D3 and I couldnt be more confident in them.

I bought the driver as well when I bought the woods. Its not as impressive, and still playing the sim 2 max with a ventus black 6S or Tensei orange.

Mizuno woods in years past, particularly the fairways have been on the spinnier side relative to their peers.

So I may not be the guy to ask.... These are my first set of woods that ive played since playing the original Nike sasquatch woods back in 2007-2009. When I graduated high school, that was it, I thought I would never return to the game. the only reason I picked it back up was because I got a new job and all the guys play here. They are some Sh** talkes for sure. I didnt think they were as good as they were leading on, based on how they talked about the game. They never let it go and kept with their antagonizing ways... so they made me get them out of storage and start hitting again. I was damn close to scratch by the time I was a senior in high school, and played my last state tournament but never loved the game. So I graduated and put them away forever...or so I thought. By the end of last summer, I shot a 79 and beat all of them. They are chasing me again this summer and still havent beat me. Im around an 80's player and if I can fine tune a few more things, I think ill be close to a mid 70's player again. Im getting close, but I have enjoyed putting together a new bag and new equipment and playing the game again.

Let me add... I did hit all the woods on a launch monitor at the golf store before buying these. These performed as good, if not better, than all of the woods I hit. They were a fraction of the price as well. So I did hit a bunch of others, and I still feel these are one of the best purchases since coming back to the game. My MG3's are right up there. I think these new shafts on my JPX tours are going to be a game changer as well. If they arent, Im going to find a way to get those S3's as they were the best Iron I hit at my fitting the other day.
