The Tour isn’t missing 3-4 top players and easy to gauge how good he is whether regular Tour events or majors where additional players are in the field.

Disagree.  Bryson, Koepka, and Rahm are 3 top players and are missed by many, including myself.  Scotty is having an amazing run, and I love watching him, but I'd much rather see him playing against the aforementioned.

I tune in specifically to watch Scottie at this point. If you find ridiculously great golf boring to watch, that's on you.

i'm proud to say i've seen enough great golf to not want to watch scotties version ill just pull up highlights somewhere to find much more entertaining content with less glazing from the commentators

Tiger was best with the media?🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I loved watching Tiger but when he was playing there were numerous threads and posts referring to how Tiger gave the media nothing but canned answers that gave away nothing.

I know but it gets to that point when you have media outside your house and can't go to McDonalds to grab a burger without being stalked by the media. Michael Jordan couldn't even leave hotel rooms on the road, pretty lonely life in reality.

Koepka? You think still?

What has he done in the last four majors? I am too lazy to look it up…

HE has 16 wins in 5+ years on tour 3 Majors 8 limited field event a and the rest full field.  At this same point roughly Tiger had 29 wins and 6 Majors and the Career GS already.

Scottie is on an incredible run, But so was so was Spieth for 3 years He needs to win another Major this year and start clicking those off.

Bryson, who right now is by far the best player of the three, has won a total of 3 LIV events (lol) and one major that Rory gifted him since June 2022. In that same time period, Scottie has 12 PGA tour wins including two majors and two players, as well as countless top 5's and top 10's.

Bryson is a really good player, but Scottie is in a completely different class. Rahm is a shell of his former self and Koepka's game is in shambles. Neither of them would be competitive on tour right now.

Looking at that table it's clear his game has ups and downs, but also that he was a major winner and runner up just 2 years ago.  Sounds pretty good to me, but I'm not going to argue the semantics of a "top" player.  There are certainly guys on the PGA tour playing at a higher level at the moment and frankly I'm not a fan of his.  I would enjoy watching him battle with and hopefully fail against Scotty, because I do think he is an amazing golfer with super high potential.   And that comment extends to Bryson and Rahm - especially Rahm.

I don’t think he’s necessarily boring it is more that he’s supremely disciplined on the course never getting himself too far out of position and not making very many mistakes that people can’t relate to him. He’s the golf version of Tim Duncan where it’s extremely effective but not going to deliver those highlight/jaw dropping moments. It’s also not helping the perception of Scottie that the majority of the golf media lives their lives through the lens of social media so they think every golfer should be “relatable”.

Just two years ago is right….which means they would be about to expire as points in the rankings.  If he was playing the tour and had those results multiplied in regular events would he be in the top 100?  Especially since he claims to not care about regular events?

I love watching greatness so no, not boring to me.

Same. I don't care about the ancillary stuff. I just love watching this guy golf his ball. The guy is unbelievably good. They used to say "leaderboard gravity" about Tiger and Scottie is starting to feel the same. I appreciate his greatness, I don't need Bryson's YT or Griffin's TikTok's or Hatton's temper tantrums to get me excited about a guy being this dominant.

Only people who think Scottie is boring or even think in that context are the ones obsessed with YouTube (style) golf. He's not an entertainer. He's a golfer and his job is to play good golf and win tournaments. Neither his personality nor his golf are meant to be "entertaining" for you.. so "boring" is irrelevant in that context.

This. Or Sergio spitting in the cup, or berating an official.

Tiger is a once-in-the-history-of-the-game case. Let’s just enjoy great play on its own without making the impossible comparison.

It’s funny isn’t it?  We have one thread that says golf needs to be like other sports and have a true playoff system. As in who cares if #30 wins the FedEx Cup.  Then in this thread were told that Scottie doesn’t interact with the fans enough and show enough interaction with them during his round.  What sport does? In what sport do the players interact, really, with the fans during the contest?  I’ll add that in most sports if fans act like many do at PGA Tour events they’d get kicked out of the stadium/arena.
