Why do you keep saying “you guys “?

Nobody said what you said. Nobody said that everybody should all like the same stuff. Why are you so easily boggled?

It's the lack of understanding of the other viewpoint. It's also the disparaging tone/implications/language used: "I don't need the histrionics and the fist-pumping and the yadda yadda yadda," implying that those who do are "sophomoric" -- as one poster said.

I completely and totally understand why someone like yourself (I know you, remember) would NOT find Scottie boring.

Throwing clubs and swearing? Is that what you want? I don't consider high-five your caddy emotional.

Who does scottie need act like and what does he need to do to be more exciting to watch?

I love swearing (and prefer people who do swear some to those who rarely/never do) and have zero problems with the occasional (a few times a year?) club toss.

And Tiger did much more than high-five his caddy, emotion-wise. I mean, come on, do I need to break out videos of him?

I'm a low single digit handicap who doesn't enjoy watching Scottie as much as I enjoyed watching Rory. Around 2015, if Rory was in contention on Sunday, overseas, I would wake up at 3 am to watch the round live. I also don't enjoy country music as much as I like rock, and I have no idea why. Country music doesn't scratch the brain, and nor does Scottie. Some things are more stimulating than others. It's fine.

Get out of here with that reasonable (and oddly and ironically unemotional) take!!!

I think that you're leaving out a lot of context.

I also said that it's okay if you find the guy boring "Do you bruh" "It's a matter of preference." My comments was directed at the poster saying SS is so boring.

Which is their right, but I also have the right to say, "No, he's not."

*Don't get excited, it's all opinion-based.

I'm pretty sure they explored the "why" in the 1986 blockbuster, Top Gun.

Scottie is Iceman, cool, surgical, no mistakes.

Rory is Maverick, cavalier, high risk, high reward.

Scottie will never be as exciting as Rory because w/ Rory, both disaster and amazement hover over every swing. Scottie doesn't bring that drama. If he gets a lead, he's just going to strangle the competitors like a python.

However, just because he doesn't bring the highs and lows of Rory, doesn't mean he's boring. I love watching elite iron play. I love watching an elite short game. Scottie has both and while he'll never be as charismatic as Tiger, Rory, or Spieth, with every win he seems to come more and more out of his shell.

This explains everything. 🤣

How can you not find Rahm entertaining?

guy has a half backswing and a club foot and still carries it 300+.

i love how his swing looks like he could never miss left.

and on YouTube he seems like a nice, down to earth guy.

the truth is we’d all probably be in awe and ask for an autograph if we were lucky enough to meet or play golf with any of these guys.

IDK man. I think that does a disservice to Iceman. Iceman had that big D energy swag. SS more like Goose IMO

I think people find Scottie boring because he always wins and the rare occasion he doesn't win it's because someone else beat him (Brooks at the 2023 pga or Fitzpatrick at the 2022 us open). People root for Rory because it's gonna be a roller-coaster all the way to end and he's bound to make a boneheaded decision at some point. Scottie's game also isn't as flashy as prime-Tiger, Rory or Spieth in 2015-17. People like it when the longest guy dominates or a guy can make any 20-30 foot putts. Scottie just hits a lot of fairways and greens. Spieth in 2015 made 25% of his putts from 20-25 ft and Scottie is at 13%.

I still keep going back to the Masters and this perfectly explains the difference between Scottie and Rory. At the Masters Rory had a 5 shot lead with 8 holes to go and he still needed a playoff to win/in fact lost the lead on 14. At the PGA, Scottie started the day with a 3 shot lead, was tied with 9 holes to go and ended up winning by 5. I think there's a good chance Rory wouldn't have won that tournament

I've certainly sworn when I hit a bad shot and unfortunately I've thrown and broken a club before. Doesn't mean it's a good thing nor should others aspire to emulate it.

But I get it some people want to see this 😂happy gilmore GIF

Once again. Him winning has absolutely nothing to do with it. I think obee has stated the same… Are we sure it’s not winter??? 🥶

So, are you saying that he's boring because he plays golf like Mr. Spock on Star Trek?

If so, we're saying ...... That is illogical.

Despite the choking narrative that goes around, the 2025 Masters is the first Major since the 2014 PGA in which Rory held the 54 hole lead, and he converted all the others except of course the 2011 Masters. I think he'd convert a 3 shot lead. That said, I agree with everything else.

Hitting it long and straight, hitting it close, and making putts. I sure wish I could be boring.

So do I!

And that has nothing to do with being entertaining (the opposite of boring in this context) for many of us.

Good point. The tour is lacking star power. Who do they have: Scotty, Rory, and? No one. Pretty boring.

And the problem that several who could be those needle moving stars have been struggling - Spieth, JT, etc.

Also the well-discussed issue of the equipment advances has made the game more "boring" in a lot of ways. Too many courses just don't require a ton of exciting or different types of shots.

Rory was T1 at the 2022 Open thru 54 holes, a shot back with 5 to play at the 2023 US Open, had a share of the lead with 9 to go at Torrey in 2021 but fell apart on the back and then obviously had a 2 shot lead at Pinehurst with 5 to play. Outside of Pinehurst, none of those are chokes but I think Scottie would've closed the 2022 Open and the 2024 US Open. People talk about the putts Rory missed on 16 and 18 at Pinehurst, but Rory also bogeyed the par 3 15th when he hit it over the green leaving him an impossible chip and yanked his drive left on 18 leaving him no shot at hitting the green. I just don't see Scottie making those 2 mistakes if he's in the same position.

People cheer for those who they would like to see themselves as if they were out there.

It’s that simple.

I always cheer for John Daly when I can, and I love watching him on YT as well. Would I want to see myself as him? LOL no. But he’s still super entertaining to watch and I enjoy his authenticity.

It’s also kinda funny how people have “theories” about why some people have an opinion and like different things than they do. Which reminds me, I have a theory about all you clowns who like In-n-Out burger better than 5 Guys…

This, exactly this!

It is mostly because Internet, I get it….but the number of disparaging, full of hyperbole posts made here lately is 👎🏼

”You think Scheffler is boring to watch because you want to see someone get fired up….I don’t really care about that, actually I don’t like it, just give me the golf.”  Totally OK.

“You think Scheffler is boring to watch? You must want golf to be like the WWE. Can’t stay focused unless someone is cussing and doing all those embarrassing histrionics? Enjoy the MMA that’s on tonight!”  Not cool.

Way too much of the latter on here lately. Debates and discussion are great without all the hyperbole and veiled insults.

You may not want to be JD but there’s something about him that you identify with and cheer for.

As far as 🍔 I never had in-out, 5 guys is good for a fried burger. No burger is better than the one you have off the grill at a bbq though ; )
