Myrtle Beach suggestions near Arcadian Shores

Staying near Arcadian Shores in a few weeks and playing golf with my wife. I've played Beachwood in the past and thought it was ok. Not looking for too much, just a good value in the area for 9 holes. Any suggestions? Is Arcadian Shores ok, seems to get mixed reviews.

If you are not looking for too much, Arcadian Shores is a step or two up from Beachwood, as far as 
design/challenge goes.    Myrtlewood is also comparable to Arcadian.     
 
More premium near there is Grande Dunes.    
 
More like Beachwood is Azalea Sands.    
 
In the summer in MB, ask if the greens are aerated.    
 
Near there for food, Gios, Crave, Hook+Barrel, Chesapeake House,....

I played Arcadian Shores in March and conditions were fine.

Pine Lakes is a short drive down 17. You also have Whispering Pines right next to the Airport. 

 

From Arcadian Shores area, you can hope on Rt 22->Rt31 and by pass Rt 17 traffic and hit up River Hills (big fan), Eagle's Nest, Eastport, Glen Dornoch.

I would highly recommend avoiding Whispering Pines. It’s flat tore up with trees down and areas still under repair from the storms. I was there in March and only played nine because it was not fun.

 

I also hit up MB National’s King signature course. For the cost, it’s a disappointment.

 

I also played Arcadian Shores and feel it’s a great value for the money. I’d rate it better than National.

Arcadian Shores was a fair design, not sure current conditions, it was Top 100 in the US 40-odd years ago, so there's that. I enjoyed it. Azalea Sands was roughly equal to Beechwood. The Dunes Club is right around the corner, probably have to go through one of the package agencies to get a tee time but it's fantastic, possibly the best course in the MB area but probably not cheap. Barefoot is close, 4 courses, Dye is best, then Fazio, Norman and Love are pretty equal and far below the other two. Venturing a big to the north, Tidewater is really good, Sea Trail is pretty average but they do a summer twilight rate of around $25.

Thanks, for the latest suggestions! Any others? My vacation starts tomorrow. Based on a google review two days ago, Arcadian Shores does not appear to be a good choice. Sandy greens, questionable staff.

The Heathland and Parkland Legends courses are good, and it’s possible that they offer multi-round packages this time of year.  I like the Barefoot courses a lot, though I’d differ from Johnny Biarritz in the rankings; I like Dye and Love a lot, Fazio is fine, but Norman is a definite skip IMO.  Tidewater is a terrific golf course.

Pine Lakes was a great value the last time I played it, not sure what the going rate is now. Tidewater is also fantastic

Played Azalea Sands with low expectations yesterday. 35 for 9 riding. The course layout was on the easier side. Greens were slow. Maybe that was on purpose as they aerated today. It was ok for the money and worked fine for family golf. Visited Arcadia today and the sand was still visible but putted ok on the practice green. Decided not to play there but tee boxes and fairways looked good.

I second Dunes.

 

Legend courses are nice too.

 

So many options in myrtle beach.

 

PS: be careful of the cute little girls when you go to putt putt. They seems sweet and cute but they'll destroy you in putt putt..... like they destroyed me.
