Callaway AI Smoke TD 9 deg, Ventus black 6x tipped .5" @45.5"

It's been the most consistent driver I've played, and BS improved over my paradym td and stealth+

I keep toying with trying the elyte TD max to see if some added help/spin on the toe miss would benefit, but it's hard to justify when I'm hitting this one so well.

If you really love that setup, then remove all doubt because you'll most likely see more spin BUT also see more balls go left with the Elyte TD MAX.  I've tested it and TD version and both spin more and are neutral bias compared to AI Smoke TD.  This is exactly why Luke Kwon and few other Cally staffers still rock it.

Good to know, thx.

I really am nit-picking here too, the miss is pretty infrequent and when it happens I'm good at correcting it... but that first quacker of the day really snuffs out a good round lol.

OP if you're over the top and spinny it's a technical issue no driver will fix it. I've been there I've spun a TSR4 up to 4k RPM with that kinda delivery.

With that said I've fixed that issue and current setup G430 LST with a TPT Nitro 15Hi. It's becoming scary good off the tee.

Just made a switch from my Cobra Adapt LS.  Was hitting my friends max K and was pretty impressed with it. I thought I might as well tinker a little and see if I’m in the right driver. So I had a shootout the next day between the Cobra Adapt heads with shafts I have and a few stock options. Ended up in the Adapt X, 9 degree F3 setting with the stock Fuji Pro 60x. The minute I hit that combo it’s like my driver came to life. They are all fantastic but as with any brand and model it’s getting the right setup

hey Jon, any chance you could check your DM's and shoot me a reply to the several messages I've sent you over the last couple months?

I would have mentioned length, but when I found my ideal MOI, I was able to play a longer length just as well as the 44.75" ones I used to play. I am happily playing my drivers a 46" now.

That's a WOW.

I have NOT had any success with lengths over 45.  Can't say why except I get a few long ones then don't use the COG sweet spot.  But with 44.75 and 44.50 I largely nut driver, mm above center, mm forward, consistently.  Also, I am able to adjust trajectory to high or low bullets, couldn't do that with longer shafts.

I have 3 in the rota:

2021 SIM w/ Accra TZ6

2024 Corba Dark Speed LS w/ Ventus VELO+

2025 QI35 LS w/ Ventus Black Velo+ or Red Velo+

SIM is just point and shoot, maybe not the longest but it's consistent and I know every shot and what it does from anywhere off the face. We are bonded. The DS LS is just so rewarding when struck on the slightly high center toe! It's additive but the lower balls suffer immensely to beat out the SIM. This is where the QI35 LS comes I swear you hit it anywhere on the face near center and it's a consistent shot. Has an additional gear to the SIM but the feed back is lacking. I hit it low center and I don't know that unless Iook at the all mark. I think Ima stay SIM until it breaks as its just so comfortable and gives me everything and takes nothing away,

Have a Callaway driver question and you are the man I think could know the answer: I like the performance of the Elyte Triple Diamonds but I actually prefer the look from address of the standard Elyte. Something about it sets up well for me.

Do the Triple Diamond heads offer more “built-in” ball speed or can the standard Elyte match them if I get the right loft? I hit a 9 degree Triple Diamond Tour Draw vs a 10.5 degree Elyte standard (only loft we had) and the TDTD was longer. Elyte seemed a bit more consistent. And it was fast and not too far behind, but clearly not as long as the TDTD (perhaps due to less loft or the lower draw spin.) The Elyte seems more point and shoot.

Do the TDs have more built in speed...not really. They can have a touch more if you slap heavy weight forward but then you spray it.

The standard elyte head is FAST and low spin. It's actually the faster head in this year's line.

The elyte std is nearly point and shoot (my td max edged it there) but I know a lot of people are getting better dispersion with the TD models.

You can definitely match the TD models in ballspeed with std elyte. Try the 9 and the 10.5 lofted down. And then try them with that rear weight moved to the heel if it seems you like/ need a draw biased CoG.

It's not enough that I'm hungry to find a new driver, and only happens when I get lazy/complacent.  Like once every couple of rounds, and more often in my sim.  It's completely preventable if I'm more disciplined over the ball - only happens when my strike gets wayyy toe side.

I also love working this club both ways, fade comes a bit easier though.

I guess I was curious if the td max would give me 95% of this with a better outcome off the toe, but reading deeper I see it's definitely less fade biased as you mentioned.  Would hate to upset the applecart so to speak, for chasing a better (preventable) miss.

Don't get me wrong, I do have a bit better consistency at 44.75", but 46" has been working great for over a year now. I got my MOI Auditor about 4 years ago when I did the Overlength Build Take 2. I started at 47.5" which worked fine with a fairway finder swingbut found it lost control if I went after it a bit (which we all do from time to time). I worked on it for quite some time before moving to 46". Perhaps all that time at the LONG length made 46" seem normal. Who knows.

Interesting.  Hard for me to imagine, 46" as normal.  I need to investigate MOI Auditor????

Lately, since the GT @44.75", I have been going after it all the time and finding new landing areas, especially when it's hot out.  I tee the ball lower, a tad more forward in my stance, even at 44.75" I still grip down 1", aim and swing for the trees.  LOL My Ventus TR Blue S shaft plays 44.5, and I still choke down 1".

Seems between those two lengths, I continually find the sweet spot.  And I find motivation in the weirdest ways. LOL At 74, it feels damn good to have my ball out there in the fairway near guys 20-30 years younger.  I still want to be competitive and win.  Thing is, to always swing for the trees, I had to up my cardio workout otherwise, those swings would poop me out.  My buddies say I am crazy... what can I say.

GT3 9* LinQ blue M40x that I am currently on the fence about. Each time I think I am done I have a round where I hit it great, haha. Driver has always been my love hate club.

Hit the Cobra adapt max k and that thing is impressive. Ball just wants to go straight and maybe slightly shorter than GT3 and was probably more tied to shaft which was the Fuji Pro Black, not bad but not as good as LinQ for me. It’s low spin for that style of a head. For some reason I have been hesitant to pull the trigger but thinking 9* with the same LinQ blue. GT3 feels a little better in my opinion but it’s probably mostly due to the shaft match up for me.

This is good advice, and shorter length shaft testimonies has given me food for thought.  I always choke down as well, so might just trim the shaft and see what transpires.

Still rocking the ping g430 lst, hard to complain about the forgiveness and I need a lower spinning head. I flirted with the Mizuno stg 220 for a bit I could hit a really good bomb every once in a while, but the low spin misses were not playable. Snagged a mini driver as a 3 wood replacement as well.

Benched the G430 Max 10K with Tour AD HD for an Elyte TD Max with MMT 60 S.

The Ping was great (and I won't be getting rid of it), but the TD Max is frankly more reliable and consistent. MMT 60 is a darn good pairing with the TD Max, but I am going to try the Tour AD HD that I know works for me as well.
