Callaway Apex MB vs Mizuno 241

I am looking at getting to a set of blades. I used to play MP-68s.  I tried the mizuno pro 241s and absolutely love it. Great feel and surprisingly forgiving for a blade. Im annoyed they dont make a 3 iron lefty though. 

 

Unfortunately the store i shopped at did not have the Apex MB in lefty to test. So I turn to the geniuses over here to get their input. Looking for consistency and feel. 

 

I am tempted to go with Callaways 10% off plus 50% trade in bonus but I always been a mizuno fan boy (despite their utter hatred for lefties until recent)ly.

 

Wanted to look at Srixon ii as well but unfortunately but they do not make it in LH.

 

Any other blade recommendation is welcomed as well.

Personally I’d choose the 241’s over the Apex MB.  Looks alone make that an easy choice but playability wise the 241’s are fairly forgiving for what they are.  Another option you didn’t mention is the Wilson Staff MB.  They are incredibly easy to play blades and they look phenomenal.  They are also available in LH since you seem to have that affliction.

Have two sets of the Apex 24 MB irons (finished & Raw) and they are the perfect size, shape and very solid.

Based on Birdie Bob and

PowerCobra's excellent recommentations you will have to buy both sets.

I have in last 12 years had Fg62, plus various mizuno and callaway blade sets. More sets is Better.

Mizuno, Titleist, or Wilson. Im a lefty too. I think Callaway blades or irons in general are ugly and wouldn’t touch them unless they were paying me to play them. Which they won’t. Original x prototype was nice. But Ive always thought of both callaway and TaylorMade as companies that make good woods. Mizuno, Titleist, and Wilson make good irons.

Ended up ordering the 241s off Carl's Golfland. Luckily the stock shaft is the shaft I like (kbs tour). I have tested it multiple times and it is one of the most consistent clubs i have hit.

Haven’t hit the Callaways but my buddy got a used set of 241s to play with and they are butter. I play p7mc’s and I’d say they are softer.

Problem is you can’t get the weights.  So after the initial build, tip weights or lace tape it is!

I think hes talking more about the new 24mb being ugly with the big weight in it. Those 18's look great and the ones that some players are testing on tour hopefully come out in the near future cause they look great.

Wow! As someone who is very sensitive to swing weight, I love irons that have a weight element built in. I am surprised that weights aren’t readily available! That’s seems like that would be a major selling point.

Look like classic Titleist or mizuno blades with a callaway logo. So with all branding removed they are good looking blades yes.

After a couple of practice sessions and a round of golf with these clubs, they are keepers.

 

Pros: Gorgeous looking blades that are a pleasure to look at behind the ball. They are crisp, consistent and feel great. The long irons in particular feel like butter knife smooth. They are relatively forgiving for a blade, slightly more forgiving than my old MP68s. Ball flight is just beautiful. The KBS tours are stout enough without feeling like a 2x4 (I am looking at you, Dynamic Gold). 

 

Con: Mizuno doesn't make a 3 iron in left handed, which annoys me, but beggars can't be choosers, right? I decided to put my old MP-68 3 iron in the bag and it is working well as my fairway seeker. I ordered a Mizuno Fli-hi 2 iron utility iron which I will experiment with when it arrives but for now the old 3 iron stays.
