Fade bias on i530’s with Dynamic Gold Mid 100 R300’s?

I’m a lifelong drawer of the ball. Recently I received a Fathers Day gift from kids of a new set of irons, Ping i530. I had mentioned this to them earlier and when they asked what shafts I decided at age 67 to go with regular shafts after playing exclusively S300’s for years, most recently in a set of Ping i210’s (Dynamic Gold 120 S300).  Like many here age and two rotator cuff surgeries have shortened swing and distance some. Current 7 iron goes about 155. 
 

I can generally work most precious irons for anything from a strong draw (becoming a hook with too much) to a gentle fade. For the life of me I cannot hit the i530’s anywhere left of straight, even with my most pronounced hook effort, with most shots somewhere from a fade to a mild slice. Shots start straight and then move right. 
 

I took out several sets of older irons, from the i210’s, to sets of Mizuno and Titleist blades all the way back to my old Eye2’s. Same gentle draw flight path with them all. 
 

Does either the lighter shaft or the softer flex promotes a fade pattern?  I somehow was under the impression that you faded a ball with too stiff of a shaft and hooked too soft of one.   I’m about ready to swap the shafts for some S300’s.

Softer shafts tend to droop more at impact which effectively flattens the dynamic lie angle.

 

GI irons with tungsten weight out towards the toe also have the cg pulled further away from the heel. A more traditional iron would typically have cg location heel side of center

It is more than likely the weight of the shaft vs. the R vs S and how you are timing up this new shaft vs all your old ones.  Hitting your 7I about 155 I would anticipate your SS to be in the low 80MPH range which probably isn't enough for the stiffness to come into play.  Before you swap out the entire set, I would recommend just doing the 7I and see if this helps, or even better maybe go to a fitter or the shop they purchased them and see if they have the DG120 in their fitting cart which you can try.
