gotta think there will be a lot of interest in putting normal grips on LABs now.   Good for him.. making a 64+ foot putt to seal the deal was clutch.

I always put normal grips on my LABs, just feels better in my hands...

I do as well.. but they are 0° lean versions (Link/OZ).

I can't believe how their social media has fumbled this - not a single post about it on the LAB X account and nothing on their website.

I just checked LABs site and they have nothing about one of their putters winning the U.S. Open as of yet.

If they are not under contract there are strict issues with posting a pic of JJ and a LAB putter.  Using likeness of an athlete when they are not under contract can get you into some big legal issues.

 

I don't see Titleist posting pics of JJ hitting the drive on 17 or 18 with his GT3.  Same reason.  I am NOT a lawyer but I remember another company with this issue and an actual lawyer saying something about it and it coming down to a contract that you can't use their likeness if they are not under contract or something similar.

 

I may not be correct here but I do not believe that LAB pays a single player to use their putter, unlike EVERY other player you see rolling a big OEM putter.  I know that LAB and Adam Scott have some kind of deal because Scott has been in some videos with them, but he could be a minor owner or something or has given them fair use of his likeness for videos and advertising.

 

The player themselves can post videos but the company, not so much.

Yep, there are some pros who play Bettinardi's that aren't under contract with them. So Bettinardi will often post pictures of the putters themselves that are in play and say what they finished but can't post anything about the player themselves. Similar situaiton with Spaun for LAB i'm sure.

Yeah Titleist wrote a post but never mentioned JJ by name or used his image. Was something like "the US open champion used a gt3 blah blah..."

Yep, you are correct.  They can't use his name or likeness   But they can say The Winner of the 2025 US Open used a DF3 to outlast the field, etc.   As mentioned, Titleist often mentions the winner of such and such when a non contract player wins with the ball or club.

Shaft not that important depending on feel you want. Online fitting is accurate

Accurate and like everything else it is gonna be a mixed opinion. I found a used mezz 1 with the stock steel shaft and liked it a lot. Decided to get fit online and went with a mezz 1 max with the accra upgraded shaft and was underwhelmed. I tried all the tips provided just didn't like the "lighter" feeling with the accra shaft. I am lucky in that my lie angle is 69 which is stock so I could pick up any model in the store if wanted. If you can I recommend trying to go somewhere so you can test out the heavier head weights this is my one gripe with the online fitting. Live and learn.

I tried many LAB putters in store and almost bought a few of them but decided to go get custom fit and I am so glad I did.   My specs is DF 3, heavier head, 35", lie angle 72, 3 degree press grip and custom alignment to fit my eyes.

 

I have to wait 10 weeks, played 8 rounds with it so far and I have never made so many putts in my life.  😆

Time Zones also matter.  L.A.B. is based out of Oregon, so us West coasters are just stumbling into work right now.

The steel shaft is garbage IMO...The Accra and TPT are pretty good, not sure about Gears...
