Srixon ZXi7 irons

I will probably get roasted for this but I played Muzuno mp 33’s for years. Had zx7 irons for a couple of seasons and although they were not a good fit for me (too low launch) they felt better than the mp 33’s. A slightly below the radar brand when people are searching for new irons but they are great feeling irons with good no charge custom shafts

I have a set of ZX7 mk2 and additional ZX5 mk2 6i and 5i and they are great. The new ZXi looks very similar in size and shape. They moved the weight and the CG a bit around. I am not sure how much I would notice. If I have the chance to hit the new side by side with my set, I will do so. before I was into Srixons Z785 and the difference to the ZX7 and ZX7 mk2 was tiny.

the ZX7 are great irons, forgiving and lovely feel when center striked. the ZXi will spin a couple rpm more the users are tellign me. Try to get a Srixon fitting, because they offer a wide range of shafts and most of them with no upcharge

Was playing Srixon irons for a couple generations and the inner club ho kept telling me I needed/wanted something new. Well after Titleist, Mizuno, Callaway and Ping I am back to Srixon and couldn’t be happier. As long as they stay this consistent from model to model I won’t be going anywhere. They just flat out perform. For me the ZXi7s balance of feel, workability and forgiveness cant be beat!

I've played several generations of Srixon irons over the last 25 years or so.

The ZX7's are fantastic. They're a bit of a unicorn IMO in that they aren't that demanding to play but you can still pull off anything you can imagine. And they feel great to me.

My long irons are ZX5's and they feel noticeably more harsh but then they give me the help I need when I get to the 5/6 iron.

I played ZX7 4-PW for the last three years. Went to TM P7CB and…I might have to switch back to Srixon. The ZXi’s are crazy soft. 1015 carbon steel will have that effect. My only real critique of the ZX7 was the thick top line and it looks like the ZXi thinned it out a little bit. Great clubs. Very popular among non-contract pros for a reason.

I’ll probably get roasted for this but as good in every aspect as they are I just haven’t gotten along with the ZXi7. I think it’s the v-sole… I just seem to hit a lot of iron shots a groove or two low where I don’t seem to have that issue with “conventional sole” irons. Recently grabbed a set of P7CBs and they just seem to get into to the turf better for me. Feel every bit just as soft to me as well.

Nah, I'm still gaming z745s .  Have a set of z785s but am saving those.  Really wanted the blacked out zx7s but I couldn't justify the price.  Play what you like.  I really like the look of zx7s and zxi7s.

No reason to get roasted.  What works for some does not work for others.  Just play what works and what you like.  The rest will figure itself out.

I’ve been playing the z785s for 5 years and agree. One of my main playing partners has the ZXi7s other than the ZXi7s looking better there’s almost no difference. I have yet to hit an iron I like as much as Srixon.

I still have a set of 765s. I’m a lefty so never got to play the 745s. I had a set of 785s but went back to my 765s. They were more forgiving and I liked how they looked over the 785s. I sold the 785s.

i bought a set of ZX7s. Really liked that set. Then got a set of ZX7 MKIIs. I couldn’t tell much of a difference between those. Maybe slightly more consistent ball speed with the MKIIs. So I sold the original ZX7s and bought another set of ZX7 MKIIs after a full fitting at True Spec. Except I got the 5 and 6 iron in the MKII ZX5s. Liked this set a lot.

This year bought a complete set of ZXi5s with the exception of the 9, PW, & AW which are ZXi7s. This is the set that I’m currently playing.

I like the ZXi7s & ZXi5s over all the other sets. I will likely sell the 765s and the first set of ZX7 MKIIs that I have.

745s were the best irons ever made. Not an opinion, a fact. Every model since (except 765) have been elite. Currently in zx7 mkii with zxi7s in a box waiting to be used but no real reason to change, just so consistent. Literally all models

Wow, it’s awesome that we have finally discovered, for a fact, what the best irons ever made were!

The world’s best coffee was settled long ago, so it’s nice to be able to check off irons now.

Absurdly good.

Long, consistent, and very soft.

Way more forgiving than they should be…

… and the z-sole is a game changer.

Oh… and don’t pass on the A-wedge. I’m literally head over heels in love with it and I can get nice check bump and run style with it.

some people pass to go to a bladed wedge; I think it’s perfect between my Pw and 55* RTZ

This.

It's stupid how forgiving they are on mishits.

Totally agree.  Especially on low strikes.

Not to thread jack but there is a member review going on right now that might be of interest. I was lucky enough to be chosen to test the ZXi7s and would second most of the comments here based on my short time with them. Ultra quality soft forging, great shaping, and ridiculously forgiving for a players CB iron. My Ping Blueprint S are pretty likely to be dethroned. Link to the reviews in case anyone wants to check them out:

I mean total build weight is going to be very different depending on shafts.  An 80 gram graphite is going to weigh 50 grams less than a 130x 100 build.

right.  so maybe like the stock dynamic gold 115 mid or modus 120.  i can get the ball park based on my shaft so should be fine.
