If the goal is to get the 12 best players on the team he should pick himself, and with the latest rule change the path is cleared.

I see him as a guy, performance wise, who could be a total red-a**.  Not comparing fashion.

Keegan should be on the team

 

They should announce Keegan as the 2027 or 2029 Captain depending on which year Tiger wants and let Webb step in

or possibly ask Tiger to be Captain after Keegan has done 95% the prep work for him 🙂

 

By giving Keegan a guaranteed future Captaincy he won't feel the need to entertain the idea of playing Captain

It was actually 2021 (because of COVID)

 

IMO, Stricker was our best Captain in many years. He went with the top 12 with one exception, #11 P Reed. Reed had been sick in the previous months, and perhaps also had personality conflicts. Stricker then chose #14 Scheffler to fill out the team! How does that look now?  Stricker also almost killed himself in this process. But I give him tremendous credit for his judgement in the pairings and so on. Here is the 2021 team:

 

 

Last time, Keegan was sitting at #11, and not picked. What should he do? He should tell the guys to play hard and finish in the top 12. And then he will make the tough calls. But any departures from the top 12 should be based on recent play, sickness/injury, or team cohesion. (Don’t choose based on celebrity status or the buddy system.) 2023 team:

I'm very interested to see what happens with Morikawa. He's been really poor since The Players. Incredibly he's still #6 in OWGR. I expect he'll get picked but used sparingly.

 

I'm shocked how relatively weak the US team is looking. Thinking back to Whistling Straits I thought the next away match for EU would be another blow out but a lot has changed.

 

Any other venue I'd make EU slight favourites but at the moment I see it as 50/50.

2 MCs in a row is untimely poor play but he was T8 the week before that.

It's funny looking back at that 21 Ryder Cup, and seeing the final points tally.  Sergio and Rahm being the only Euros with winning records.  And DJ going 5-0, and being the only US player who didn't lose or draw.

If his putter is hot going into the Ryder Cup, then yes he should pick himself.  It's all about which team makes the most putts, and he needs to choose whoever is on a putting hot streak.

I think Bryson gets along better with a lot of the team then Wyndham.

The only player in the top 12 I would hesitate to pick is Harmon due to his lack of length and the course it is being played at.

Collin finished runner up at the sentry and API (2 sig events). He’s been bad as of late but I don’t know if Keegan will actually leave him off

The schedule is somewhat of a problem and it has been commented on in previous years.

 

They can earn points through the BMW (8/17). And the Tour Championship is the following week (through 8/24). And then they are basically off for a month. The RC begins 9/26. There is the event in Napa on 9/11-14, but does anyone in the RC play in that event? Can they stay sharp, etc?
