Brooks Koepka- Ryder Cup selection

Who is taking Brooks for Ryder Cup? 
 

Major champ at Bethpage. Undefeated in singles. Waxed Ludvig in Rome but also part of embarrassment in single greatest loss in a match.
 

Seems like selfish and bad locker room guy. form seems mediocre? First sign of life at US Open 
 

I take him given lack of US depth. As in, I’m not choosing Andrew Novak or Mav or Some of the others in contention over him.

If he has another good week at the Open, Keegan should seriously consider it. His record is 7-6-2 and I think Brooks gives the US a better chance then Andrew Novak

I agree that last time it was picking Spieth and ‘low T’ Ricky that were very hurtful choices. Brooks is not quite old guard. 5tine major champ and champ at host course!!

Also, my counter is Euro team picks ‘ old guard’ types and gets a lot out of them. Rose in Rome,many years of Poults, etc.

How about some picks of guys that are playing well this year…on the big boy tour?  Not a guy that won majors a while ago and can’t even win with regularity on the exhibition tour.

I think the stars are aligning for a Brooks pick. Keegan is enough the outsider to do it, and with Monahan on his way out if not quite a lame duck in 2025 it would be a good time to hit 'reset' on the acrimony with LIV and bring on a 5 time major winner.

Keegan was completely bitter that he was left off while JT and JS and Rickie were selected.

In Koepka's defense, he didn't win regularly on the "big boy tour" either (comparing regular wins to major wins).  He ramps up going to the majors.

Yeah, that’s what he said for a while because he won a few majors. His last two years of majors-8 events- he has one top 20.  That is it for the guy that get s up for big events.  Considering that record and his meager LIV results how does he deserve a Ryder Cup nod?

I would love a Brooks pick.  If he plays well at the Open he might get the nod. BK has always done well in the Ryder Cup (except the foursome match with Scottie in 2023). He does well with fourball, not great in foursomes, but really shows out in singles. He has always been my favorite player so I might be a little bias, but the stats show he is a strong ryder cup performer.

If we had a thread, today, about behind the scene talks that Wilson was going to reintroduce the Haig Ultra Contour Sole irons in time for the 2030 Masters and asking if anyone had tested them yet, even that thread would get to 6 pages!

 

How could it be pointless when there'd so many questions about how the 2030 version compares to the original, and what the lofts are, and how we can put our orders in early. Pointless? No. If nothing else, it would be the only thread where we could gather together to cry over having stupidly sold our first sets of Haig Ultras, back in the summer of 1996. Nothing available today compares to how great those irons were.

 

Ohhh, I wish Wilson would hurry up and just reintroduce them right now. I think I might start a thread on that...

Not picking anyone but throwing out options. Problem with the Ryder Cup standings is some who earned points awhile ago may not be playing great at the time of the event.

Agreed. Brooks' stats support...

2017 to 2019 Brooks is a lock
2020 to 2021 Brooks is still a strong pick
2022 to present relies pretty exclusively on whether or not he shows up in majors....and he's 1/3 on even making the cut in them this year. 

The main issue is putting. He used to be elite and he's slid further and further away from that every year since his peak. In 2017 he was legitimately one of the best putters AND drivers of the ball on tour, now he's slightly below average and slightly above average respectively. Top 5 at the Open to even be considered, and he's gotta win it to have a spot.

Two top 10s in the traveling exhibition show, missed the cut at both of the first two majors - one good showing in a real event.  Nothing suggests the original question be asked.
