Cobra DS Adapt LS 6* Long Drive Head

Just saw Cobra announce they'll be selling a special 6* long drive head.

I'm not interested in long drive, however, I am a high ball hitter who is interested in hitting a lower lofted head. Currently gaming a 7.5* and still am hitting it higher than I'd like.

Does anybody have any details on this? Should it play just like the 9* LS? Or should I expect it to be less forgiving?

In a perfect world, I'd love a forgiving driver with the lowest possible loft, and I don't anticipate this to fit the bill.. However, seeing 6* on a club has really piqued my interest.

Well, in general less loft translates to less forgiving due to "physics" and other mumbo jumbo that big golf tries telling us. This is why a lot of amateurs that struggle with driver benefit from a high lofted (13 degree, etc) driver.

Which model of driver and shaft are you currently using lofted down to 7.5°?

If forgiveness is still a priority, I think I would suggest most going with the 9° LS and lofting it down to taste. The Adapt LS 9° is one of the lowest spinning drivers out there and will definitely stay lower than most with the power bridge technology they put in that particular head.

Just hit this driver today, another member had it! Wow, talk about a freaking missile launcher at 7*. Would love to mess around with this more on the range and put it up against my GT4. Really loved everything about it from looks, feel and performance based on today’s experience.

I hit this the other day against the whole adapt line and went with the LS. Really deep face and like @TheMoneyShot said it’s ballistic. Unless you’re doing LD competitions though I’d stick with the regular LS, you can still drag it down to 7. The LD is less forgiving by a noticeable margin if you find the center of the face 90% of the time it will be ok but you will find the most success with the LS. I did WLD before having kids, getting fat and slowing down but my driver is still cruising at a slowish 118-125mph CHS. The LS produced the most consistent numbers for me

I prefer the look of the LD version over the LS, that deep compact face sitting behind the ball just looks so freakin good. Total rocket launcher of a driver.

I definitely agree with you, loved the shape over the LS for sure, reminds me of the old XR16 LD heads. Wanted to be sold on that missile launcher LD myself but the heel or low strikes weren’t just bad they were scorecard destroyers.

The loft alone will make it pretty unforgiving

I have LD setups that I have toyed with as gamers on course.

my Darkspeed 6* does ok, but a slight miss and that thing is not going to spin

I play my Elyte triple D 8* at 6* and its just a much better course driver keeps spin consistent across the face.

but if you like how it looks and confident.... go for it!
