Dispute Question

Sold a driver on eBay. Used eBay shipping label and insured. The item was delivered 4 days later on June 18 and UPS provided a photo of delivery. I can tell it’s the box I used to ship and all looks intact. Buyer is now disputing the transaction saying he never got the item. eBay is saying I’ve done everything correctly. Should I be worried if he disputes with his bank or credit card? I told him I can’t be liable if it were stolen off his property. Also I can’t be sure that UPS delivered to the correct address from the picture. Just want to know how far I should go in helping.

I don’t think so.

 

If eBay ruled in your favor and then pulled the funds because somebody cancelled their credit card they wouldn’t stay in business long charging the the fees they charge for the transaction.

He did file a dispute with his CC company. eBay has asked for all documentation I can provide. The guy didn’t even give me a chance to help with UPS.

Sounds like a scam if they went that far.

 

Ive had a few buyers do that via eBay, interestingly enough it’s always drivers or driver shafts, mostly recently in the Bay Area.    Thankfully the carrier has always taken pictures of the delivery and it’s been a non issue even when the buyer disputed or stopped payment.

If it’s delivered and you have confirmation, you are set. But screen shot the UPS tracking showing delivered and the picture for eBay and you should be clear.

If I understand it correctly, buyers use a credit card or paypal to pay ebay.  Then ebay pays the seller a day or two later through their payments system.  If the buyer disputes with his credit card, that's only disputing his payment to ebay, not ebay's payment to you.

 

Ebay may then try to claw that money back from you (it's never happened to me, so I'm not sure), but if you move the money out of whatever account you have connected to ebay, there's nothing for them to claw back.

eBay resolved on my end. They sent me an email stating I had done everything correctly and no funds would be deducted from my account claiming my Seller Protection had worked. Pretty sure the guy tried to scam us on this and eBay was going to work it out with the CC company and the proof I had provided.

i had string of folks saying packages never arrived (pictures from Carrie showed it did) and people saying box was empty when opened.  I now do a quick video when I pack things up and weigh  it before shipping, and then make sure I have the carrier scan it and weigh it when dropping off.

I think I'd have someone take a look at Carrie before I assumed the buyers were all scamming...
