OLD KINDERHOOK

My son and I are playing Old Kinderhook near the Lakes Of The Ozarks. How does the course look. Any any tips would be nice we have never played there.

I've played there a few times now. It's usually in good shape. There are a few tricky holes as far as elevation changes and sloped fairways but the greens are fairly big and there aren't many forced carries. I don't think its worth what they charge to play there but its not crazy. A few of the par 3s are tough with the elevation changes. Good luck out there.

Where would you suggest to play down there.

Recommend Branson Hills and Ozarks National.

I really don't have any suggestions. I have played a couple other courses there and they were all pretty decent. I only remember Kinderhook because I've been there three or four times now and its close to my buddy's camp. The courses Rory4Pres is recommending are quite a long drive from Lake of the Ozarks...two entirely different lakes and areas. Ozark National is in Branson and its going to run you close to $300/person this time of year. Stick to the Ozark courses and try them out. I had no complaints about any of them.

I will check them out one day when I am in Branson. I am going to Osage beach that's 2 hours too far from where I am at.

My bad. Not sure why I was thinking Old Kinderhook was near Branson instead of Osage Beach.

I haven't heard much about the other courses in the Osage Beach area so old Kinderhook is probably at (or near) the top of the list there.

Old Kinderhook is very much a resort course - wide fairways, manicured "rough", big greens with not that much slope to them.

Osage National is worth the scratch, not that much more than Old Kinderhook, and a better, more challenging layout.

Bear Creek Valley and Lake Valley are both inexpensive, but in really good shape the last time I was there two years ago, not overly challenging but well worth the ~$70-$80 they charge.

The Golf Club at Deer Chase is my second favorite course in that area of the Ozarks after Osage National. Immaculate condition, not crazy expensive (~$90 last time I was there).

The Oaks at Margaritaville is cheap, the course was OK but I havent played it in quite a while (3 or 4 years ago) so no idea if they're still keeping it up well or not.
