Golf Instruction Is Getting Out Of Hand: Paul Azinger

Self taught here and I can swing my irons without any swing thoughts.  I can also swing while holding a conversation.  When I had my fitting I swung better while I was talking. 😛

 

My latest idea is now that I'm happy with the distance of my iron approach shots is to rethink driver.  Instead of swinging fades for irons and draws for driver, maybe it would be better to tailor my driver for long Par 3s.  I think I'd get more GIRs if I focused on using my driver to hit small targets, just as I do with my irons.  I learned how to play on a course with "postage stamp" greens.

I can hit and hold them better than most. 😃

Yes, very silly.  Picking his brains for both course management and swing technique would be like picking apples from the top of the tree, a zinger of a time.

Sounds like what Paul said, a swing without a word.  An Azingerism if you will.

Harrington's stuff is good. There are a bunch of channels with overall good content, but of course, as with anything… the right or good info that doesn't apply to a golfer at the time they're seeing it and trying to implement it may have a negative effect. There are plenty of good videos out there that would make certain players worse. Not because the video is bad, but because it's not what that golfer needs at that time.
