Southern Michigan golf trip

Just put together a weekend trip to Southern Michigan for 8 of us in August.

 

Here is the itinerary:

Thursday:  South Bend CC (stay at my buddie's house in SB)

Friday:  Ravines Golf Club (check in to cottage at Hawks Head golf club in afternoon)

Saturday:  36 holes at Hawks Head

Sunday:  Harbor Shores

 

 

What do you think?   We are a little limited in that one of our guys observes the sabbath and can't drive in a car on Saturday so had to find a place with on site cottage.  Hawkshead was the answer.  so playing there all day Saturday so our one buddy can just walk to the clubhouse and then walk the course.

 

Any restaurant suggestions for Friday night in South Haven?  Or a lunch suggestion on teh way from Ravines to South Haven?

Itinerary is solid.  You'll enjoy it.

 

Don't have any South Haven recommendations, but as far as lunch on Friday, Spectators Sports Bar is super close - just across I-196 on Blue Star Highway - and is pretty decent if you like basic sports bar fare and a beer.  Otherwise, keep going down Blue Star Highway into Saugatuck.  I'm partial to The Southerner, but it's a tourist town (as is Douglas across the river) so there are other options.  One place I haven't been that I keep meaning to try is Saugatuck Brewing Co, located on the south end of Blue Star Highway in Douglas just north of I-196.

Agreed, good itinerary. Never eaten at Saugatuck Brewing Co but good spot with shuffleboard, darts, etc. It also has a parking lot, which as mentioned above could be a huge benefit in downtown Saugatuck, as it gets very busy in the summer. That being said, it is a cool town and worth seeing. The Butler (downtown Saugatuck) recently re-did their outdoor seating area and has good food. 

 

Enjoy Harbor Shores, I got married there and try to get back there every few years. Restaurant there or Plank's Tavern are both good.
