Titleist GT1 Tour Fairway

Looks like Titleist is releasing a 14.5 FW. I currently have a 15 degree paired with a Ventus Blue Velocore+ in a 15 turned down to C1. I am wondering if there is any other differences. Knowing myself I will end up swapping the heads.

From what I can find, it's still 180cc.

It’s 180cc.  It’s a higher launching, lower spin option to gt3

180cc, which from my research looks like is the same as the current GT1 15 degree. Looks like GT280 comes in at 280cc.

Smaller. It is just a GT1 head that has been weighted and loft adjusted to keep spin down.

Especially since Titleist explicitly says fitters can build the regular GT1 with more traditional weighting config 

 

I mean even the website pic just looks like they photoshopped the red out of the one on "GT1", and added tour near the loft. lol

That is what I am thinking... the only different I can tell as of now is the picture shows a "red" weight (9g) and white (3g), the off the rack comes with a Black (11g) and white. Maybe marketing put the red and white for pics? Description says 11g/3g included.

I read somewhere else that the 15* GT1 is actually lofted closer to 16.5*, for those of use who think that we should play a 15* 3-wood but really need added loft.  The new Tour really is 14.5*, and has been played on Tour.  I'm guessing that it also comes with different weights.

Just read that same article. I think this is accurate. When demoing GT1 vs GT2 "15 degrees" in both lofts, I was gaining about 8-10 yds more carry with the GT2. Ended up sticking with GT1 regardless of distances. 

 

I get a lot of slack from buddies who ask why I am using a club designed for seniors... lol 😑

Other than lower loft, apparently CG is slightly different to promote less spin.  Had a GT1 3 wood and was awesome, but spun too much, this might be it.

titliest fairways look great, but always are short and spinny relative to their peers oems

 

 

in fact in the most recent release, the ping 440 max and mizuno st max both were lower spinning than gt2 or 3 for me

Yup 440 max is a beast. I had a gt1 15 and loved everything about it but the spin, had it playing at 14.25. Got a gt2 13.5 (I like bigger sized fairways) turned up the loft to 14.25 and it’s been so good. Don’t even tee it up just bump the turf and rip, on bare lies (in Vegas we get that a lot) it’s a little low but fine for what the club needs to do, but the gt1 tour might be the club.

I had the same issue, but did they swap the weights out? I asked them to put the +4 weight (blue) in the front and keep the white in the back. I was able to drop the spin down about 200/300. This club is used exclusively for Par 5s, rarely use it off the tee.

GT1 3Tour fairway specs

The GT1 3Tour measures 43 inches long with 14.5 degrees of loft and a 180cc head size. Stock weights are 11 grams and three grams and it ships with the heavier weight positioned in the front for lower spin and a more penetrating ball flight.

I did, ordered it with heavy weighted option and put the heavy weight in front.  Absolutely loved the ease of use of it, but just didnt do what I needed it to do.  My 5 wood is my 215-220 club and this thing was 225ish not much more than that and all carry no roll, needed something to carry 235, got the GT2 13.5 and does exactly that, but does take more effort.  Ill order see how it is and one of them will hit the lefty bst.

I think it's a very minor adjustment.

16.5* low spin 4 wood is underrated.  

 

Wouldn't be surprised if the launch angle and ball speed are very similar between this new GT1 tour and a GT3 4 wood.

Random question.  No, I'd think they'd be within 1 mph ball speed if using the same exact shaft and length for both.
