Not random.  I would think 2 degrees of loft would give most people 3 mph or so ball speed differential. Assuming they normalized for shaft, length, and headweight.

Loft for loft I find 3 model fairways get a 1-1.5 more ball speed on center strikes due to more forward CG.  I think the CG movement on this GT1Tour is doing exactly that.  I think this is a perfect competitor to ping fairways, nice and shallow and doesnt spin off the planet.

I was told direct from tour that the shape is the exact same

Swapped weights and back to STD headweight

 

But they changed the construction of the crown (either to more carbon or to less, cant remember) to mess with COG

Lots of big name staffers for titleist play taylormade fairways (qi10 so not like it’s a wood they have played for years and years) or ping  so you know that just burns them

I feel like they should have made this like a gt4 or gt2 max or something other than the 1. TM and Ping have dominated the FW market, rightfully so. This one I feel would compete with the core qi and ping max, in terms of size they all have relatively same CC. I think the whole 1 marketing idea doesn’t make sense. Why not just offer each model in a women’s/seniors like everyone else does.

Curious about trying this in my 5w shaft I have in my gt3 18°…. Like the control I get out of the shorter shaft compared to the 3 wood length. 
 

love my ping g440 7 wood and looks like this face and profile compares to pings offerings. 

any idea what I’d need to adjust for swing weight with an inch shorter shaft?

Titleist will adjust the weight if you leave it at standard. Or you can look at the chart they have. Think it’s 2g per 1/2” so maybe +4 grams?

I believe the regular GT1 crown is not carbon at all? And that’s the big difference here and why the CG is that different. Don’t hold me to that but I saw a quick video online and that kid said the GT1 is all metal?

I have the GT1 in 3w and 7w, there isn't anything different from a swing weight perspective when putting in any other shaft. Titleist has a surefit adjustment recommendation for cutting down: 

Something to keep in mind though is, its comes with the Black weight which is the +2 so you actually would need to get the +4 to accomodate. 

I like my FWs around D2/D3. My setup is Blue (13g) in front and Green (5G) in back. I play mine 1/2" short.

I think that Titleist should move the 13.5 GT2 fairway wood to the GT1 line in the next good around

I mean Kayla COULD be wrong... she doesn't seem credible from the WRXers haha, everywhere I look from different websites, it doesn't advertise the PMP crown.

I would agree, soooo many contradicting websites, GolfWeek says its Steel Crown, Golf Digest says PMP crown.

True... my numbers with my GT1 3w/7w are amazing, I can't imagine this being that much better then my current 15 GT1 turned down, I know Golf Galaxy has that 90 day play return so... 😄 Ill probably try it when it releases.

I think your source is correct, literally says in the description - lower CG then the GT1 fairway. 😄

The point in question was whether the original GT1 fairway had the carbon crown. As mentioned above, no one knows for sure due to the amount of conflicting descriptions found across the internet. I’ll let the others try to get to the bottom of it but yes, no doubt the cg is lower in the new one.

The original gt1 had a stainless crown.

 

the gt1 tour has a carbon crown.  Both of these things are confirmed via tiltiest marketing.

 

that being said hit them, see if they work for you.  More important than philosophical carbon/stainless stuff

I agree on the marketing.  They could have done better. GT2 Tour would have fit the bill in terms of naming. It’s a TM core competitor in my eyes. Low CG, low spin.

The current GT1 is stainless steel head and the Tour is the thermocore material.

I mean even the website pic just looks like they photoshopped the red out of the one on "GT1", and added tour near the loft. lol 

I believe it's shallower aswell " allegedly " .  I'm interested for sure !!
