Lab putter regripping

I have a link 1 with the standard rubber grip. I like the putter a lot but I’d prefer a little thicker grip. I saw online some conflicting info, with some people saying any grip change you’ll need to rebalance the putter and others saying as long as it’s within 20-25g it’s ok. Does anyone have any more info on this? Also, if weight is the limiting factor can I just slap some lead tape on the new grip until it matches the rubber grip weight? Doesn’t super stroke also have an adjustable weight system for their grips as well?

I think your good as long as you don't alter the lie angle, or the weighting on the head.

I don't have any data to back this up, but mine has been reshafted with a 260g shaft, a different grip, shortened to 29.5", and has lead powder down the shaft. If I grip it lightly and swing it back and forth, it still appears to work as it should.

I recently picked up a Link.1 from the LAB Outlet. Liked the Link.1, but did not love the stock rubber grip. I coincidentally had a SS Flatso 1.0 around that I had never installed, and the weight of the two grips was within about 1-2 grams (like 89g vs 88g or thereabouts).

Anyway, no effect on performance at all for me, and frankly I am putting better with the Link.1 now that I have a more preferable grip for me. I had read up on this before doing so, and LAB had said no issue changing the grip on the Link.1, but try to keep the grip weight within about 10g or so from stock.

Another grip that was in a good weight range of the stock LAB rubber grip was the Golf Pride Pro Only green star.

I changed the grip on a couple of my LAB putters. It hasn't affected performance for me but I'm not super sensitive to weight and loft changes. Theoretically it will add loft to the putter but I couldn't tell a difference. For me the comfort of the grip is more important than the other things.

You're fine to change it to whatever you'd like to without impacting anything. I changed shaft and grip on mine and it's 100% fine. The LAB standard rubber grip is 91 grams and the grip I installed is 74 grams. Putter still balances and spins just like before.

I discussed similar stuff directly with a LAB rep back in 2023. Here's what he said:

"The balancing would be fine if you alter the grip, but depending on the weight of the grip, it could influence the swing weight one way or the other. With a lighter grip, the swing weight would increase while with a heavier grip, the swing weight would lower. "

He also said in most cases, swapping grips should be fine for balancing, but said if there's a larger 40+ gram discrepancy, it should be fine, "in theory"
