Ping LST Driver

Wow.  I bought a Ping LST Driver with the stock senior shaft for my vacation home so I wouldn't have to lug my clubs back and forth.  Decided to bring it back from our last vacation and played it for the first time.  I was impressed with a couple of things compared to my Elyte X driver.  

 

1.  The ball flight is lower and more penetrating even though I'm not a long hitter.  Even though both are configured similarly with a 10.5 degree loft, The Ping was delivering some rollout that I don't generally see with the Callaway.

 

2.  I thought I might have to give up some distance by going to the Ping, but once again... surprise.  It seemed to be just as long if not longer.

 

3.  For some reason, even though this was my first round with the Ping, I was finding the center of the club face consistently.  I thought I would at least need a few rounds to adjust to it, but from the first drive to the last, they were solid hits.

 

4.  Finally, I did change the rear weight to the draw setting and this actually seemed to work.  I was able to put the ball on the fairway on almost every drive.  With the Callaway I typically hit the fairway less than half the time.  Perhaps with the low-spin tech of the Ping it was allowing me to find the fairway and get equal or more distance.

 

Anyone else put the Ping LST in play?

Not surprisingly on those results. The lower spin and flight will lead to more roll, especially if you are playing on fast snd firm fairways like a lot of us this time of year.

 

The lower spin can also keep it straighter as well.   Glad you are enjoying some more distance!

The G440 LST kicked my TSR2 out of the bag. Nothing else I tried lasted long.

Slow swing speed here and for whatever reason LS drivers work for me.  I've owned or hit every Ping driver from the last several generations.  The best performing driver of the bunch was the Ping G430 LST not with a senior flex or lighter shaft but with the Ping Chrome 2.0 Regular shaft and the Evenflow Black 75g R shaft.  Looking to purchase one at a decent price with my specs.  

 

Currently, I'm trying out the Taylormade Qi35 LS with a Ventus Blue '25 5S shaft.  Impressive so far. This driver requires some setup changes for me but the ball ends up in the fairway. I also may try other Qi35 driver heads.

Loft for loft, I’d say the Ping flies a bit higher for me with a bit less spin. Forgiveness is phenomenal for being the “low spin” head.
 

I like being able to move the back weight of the Ping side to side. It makes a noticeable difference.
