REPORTING BUTTON AND WHO IS IT FOR?

I’m sure this won’t get approved, since I’m currently on GolfWRX lockdown — suspended for 30 days — for doing what I believed was the right thing: reporting rule violations in the BST (Buy/Sell/Trade) forum. Ironically, I was suspended for “abuse of the reporting tool” after flagging posts from the owner and others that didn’t follow the same rules the rest of us are expected to follow.

 

Let me be clear: I used the reporting tool exactly as it was intended. I flagged ads that didn’t comply with the rules, the same rules that regular members are penalized for breaking. And for that, I’m being punished — not only with a suspension, but with constant scrutiny from the moderators.

 

About 30 days ago, I reported ads that clearly violated the BST rules. Instead of addressing the violations, the response I got was that I was abusing the report function and was invited to “go elsewhere” if I didn’t like it. Frankly, that’s disappointing. I’ve been a member here for years. I’ve contributed positively, built a solid reputation, and helped this community grow.

 

What’s even more frustrating is the inconsistency in enforcement. My ad gets flagged within seconds, but others can take hours to upload photos and their posts stay up. I even left a note to moderators explaining I was having technical issues during my last warning, but it was ignored.

 

I PM’d @Gxgolfer explaining what I did and why. He suggested I post about it and see the responses. I did, and before the post was removed, a couple of members agreed that the rules should apply to everyone — even the owner and their associates.

 

I’m tired of being treated like a problem when all I’ve done is try to support this site and keep things fair. I guess I’ll take the advice I was given and move my buying and selling elsewhere. Freedom of speech doesn’t seem to apply here. This place isn’t what it used to be — it went downhill when money became the main priority, like so many others.

 

If this post gets deleted, so be it. But I will get the word out.

You are correct that freedom of speech never applied here, which is why there are rules. 
 

There is something clearly not getting through if you think the classified rules applied to Management, which runs the business for profit.

Profit or not the rules were still broke!  Matter of fact, the following week there was one post and all other posts were deleted.  
 

Management probably had to answer too many questions and the reporting button was being utilized too much.  

 

I appreciate you approving this even though I think someone will delete it once some opinions start rolling in.

Management makes the rules. It has the ultimate discretion to apply them to the most effective was to operate the forum. 
 

The promotional post where moved after starting in classifieds and moved to equipment.
 

Still there “breaking the rules”. 

 

The logic and reasonings seems highly flawed.

Moved due to the overwhelming posts about the double standard.  Why is that you all are so quick to let members go and treat them like this?  Your mission and vision is flawed too!

What makes you believe you have so much support on this?

 

Perhaps the rules should be reviewed to understand whom they apply to. 

 

Do you not believe the current postings in the general equipment forum violate the rules of sales post outside the classifieds forums?  
 

Really struggling to understand your logic.
 

Perhaps their is a misunderstanding between what the definitions of members and management are.

Honestly man, just drop it at this point, we don't even understand you. There's a line in a Few Good Men that goes something like you object once so your point is heard but you keep after it and it makes you sound crazy.

 

You received it looks like 3 or 4 different warnings for this. Here's an idea. After the first couple, maybe pay attention?

 

GX is trying to move some merch to help support the site that you yourself seem to get a ton of use out of. Instead of just understanding that, you seem to want to keep pushing it and pushing it and pushing it.

 

And if you think this is different on other golf forums...well, you're wrong.

You know you are right and I totally understand!  I just want to be treated like an adult with the understanding that I/people make mistakes.  Your rules are somewhat convoluted and when people try they are quick to be warned and deleted!  We try to notify the MODS and they don’t care and delete it.  
 

I get advancing the site and you have done an exceptional job at it!  I love this site and that’s why I have done so much to promote it!  
 

I ask that my account not be moderated and I’ll try my best to not be petty and I am sorry that I reported that stuff.  I am a military man of 30-years and rules are a big thing for me.  Sorry again!
