True but she's still not won a major! Jeeno is one of the best. Not 'the' best.  Imo.

Interesting (to me) that despite winning a Major this year ... both Maja Stark and Grace Kim are only #24 and #26 respectively, in the Race to CME Globe season rankings. (and presumably this is only for 2025 season, and not a rolling 12-/24-months!)

Golf Channel suggests that at start of 18th hole Grace had just over a 1% chance of winning.  I daresay it was down to that (or less?) again after her errant shot on the first extra hole. For someone with prior Sunday scars, surely this is a huge liberating boost for her moving forward.

And what about Jeeno casually chatting as they walk the 72nd fairway. What did JessicaK call it, competition and camaraderie. Not sure who else would do it quite that way and you might argue it's not "strategically optimal" but something about Jeeno has been unique and compelling likeable right from the start.

Dame Lydia is quite friendly with her competitors in the heat of the battle. Lures them into a false sense of security. Lol. Care for a piece of fruit?

Wasn't someone just talking trash in here about Angel Yin a few weeks back?

4th in CME points

5th in Rolex player of the year

1st in US Solheim Cup points

3rd in scoring avg (Vare Trophy)

2nd in top 10's

8th in GIR

5th in putts per GIR

Rolex Ranking no. 7

I think they owe her an apology 😃

She literally complained about a golf course as "boring" where the sponsors and host had upped the prizes that pay her and the other LPGA players to play. What's really boring is watching slower players take their time to line up putts. So if you want to drop LPGA viewership and prize payouts more, then sure, let's have more minutes of the camera lovingly capturing Angel Yin doing her aimpoint routine. Similarly, I avoid watching PGA events if Cantlay is near the lead.

Grace's two putt on 17 was a great effort and it proved to be massive.

Yes interesting stats, not sure I'd be putting a great amount of my cash on either of them repeating the feet... 🤔.  Jeeno will certainly win one soon, would put a fair amount on that! 🤣

The CME Table is current standing, which is for 2025 season only.

Winning a major makes a big difference on Rolex Ranking because it weights much heavier than regular tour events.  Winning each Major wins 100 Rolex Points; while regular events carries anywhere between 20.0 to 63.0 points pending on the strength of the field.  The DOW team event doesn't earn any Rolex Points.

The Major winner only wins 650 CME points while all other regular event earns 500 CME points; the difference is much less.

Well Jimbo, this win was only Grace's 2nd top 10 this year, and Maja's win was her second top 10 also. Not great consistency right there.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, not a fan when mediocre players win majors. And yes, I know they outplayed everyone and deserved the win. Just remember Pernilla outplayed Hall of Famer Inbee once, and then did absolutely nothing after that day.

So it was you!! 😂

I know, I know, heaven forbid someone having and actually expressing their opinion about a boring golf course.

Perhaps more-observant LPGA watchers can help clarify

... i had believed (possibly wrongly?) that Skippy the inflatable 'Roo = merely on Loan, to the latest Aussie LPGA Major winner (eg Hannah Green) ... i.e. Skippy gets passed around quite a bit (akin to a "village bicycle")

... But! The tweet mentions "Grace Kim and her Kangaroo"

LPGA has just released a "cinematic recap" of the Evian, that i found a nice post-script to the tournament

(includes quick snippets of the prize-giving ceremony too).

Includes some new camera angles / edits

e.g. "Skippy the Kangaroo" made its appearance prior to/ as soon as Grace Kim's putt dropped

... circa timestamp 5:48?

Was pulling for Titikul.. she has let a couple of these slip away. Bottom line is she missed the 18th green in two three straight times.. why the decision to layup in regulation??

Grace went for it, eagles it twice in a row. Amazing. “Fortune rewards the Bold” or something..

On the 72nd hole ... Jeeno was in the rough after tee-off... Even the commentators praised Jeeno's maturity w.r.t. the lay-up, rather than a hero shot to go for the green in 2 (didn't see the risk being worthwhile)

... i think you couldn't 'budget' for Grace's eagle on 72nd hole (just shrug, and say "too good")

... Jeeno made no 'unforced-error' mistakes/ no bogeys in R4 (IIRC).

Because if the god awful coverage, like watching W.O.A.D.’s entire walk up 18 -> putt out -> side conversations with a bunch of olds who nobody knows, I didn’t get any analysis of how the ball was laying or her distance. What was it?

Completely understand that it’s Monday morning quarterbacking, but don’t you have to think birdie every time on that 18th hole unless you’re clear by 3 strokes?

2 hours ago, DuenPhen said:

I would say the missed birdie on 8th is an unforced error, and the inability to score the Par 5s. Still, it took Acts of God to beat her.

I dunno.. it’s an eagle gum ball machine that hole. I’d really like to know more about with Titikul was facing on that second shot in regulation. She has the game to make special things happen. Not talking about a short hitter here. Big string Ariya got there from rough.

This tourney broke a few hearts.. W.O.A.D., and especially Minjee,, man did she hit several poor shots in a row down the stretch.
