Links courses are my favorite and the British used to be my favorite major.  It just hasn't had much juice in recent years.  It lacks some great courses now like Lytham, Muirfield and Turnberry.  The Old Course is too easy.  In recent years my favorite majors are: 1 US, 2 Masters, 3 British, 4 PGA.

British still a very close second to the Masters for me just in terms of the watch. 
 

I still think the British is the greatest pure golfing test. To your point when the weather is perfect, it loses something since this is a sport we play outdoors and the weather should be a factor.

The British needs a baked out brown course with wind.  Whatever happened to that?  And eh, a big rollback would help this tournament tremendously.

Watching this tournament begs the questions - why are elite golfers allowed to use 460cc clubs?  They are supposed to be the best in the world.  They didn't double the size of the hoop in the NBA after 2000.  Bring back persimmon, or at least 230cc metals.  These par 4s are pitch and putt for these guys.

The crowd is actively rooting against Scheffler. Misses the bogey putt and you can hear "Yes!" from the crowd and Rory chants.

Huh ?  The only gallery Tiger worked was 18-34 year old females and a few dudes he got to move a Rock.   Jack was borderline anti social. He didn’t even talk to his caddie much.   And I think that’s how it should be.

We've had some really awesome majors as of late, with 3-5 people battling for the win down the stretch.  Mens and Womens tours.  So I've realized that is what I enjoy watching.  

 

Watching anyone win by 5-7 shots isn't must watch golf for me.  Maybe if it was some wild and crazy Jordan Spieth style show where the winner was on edge of making a double or an eagle, with wild saves and up and downs.  But Scotty winning by 5+ strokes?  It's basically 4+ hours of the equivalent of a comedy show of sensible chuckles.  

 

I also think too that Scotty's need to tell us how none of this seems to mean anything to him anymore.  This is basically just a job, the feeling goes away minutes after hoisting the trophy, ho hum, can't wait to get back to my house and day-to-day routine.  So I guess it is ok if my feeling is "ho hum, it's just another tourney with Scotty winning, I guess I'll watch some YouTube instead."
