Masters is as always a bit different. You have to win lottery to volunteer for 2 weeks but get to play the course months later.

Forget about playing the course for any men’s major event except in rare occasions when there’s a volunteer raffle or it’s a public course.

Having done time in CCDC, LA's Twin Towers and some can in the San Fernando Valley ... it's not that bad behind the wall.

I've been a volunteer a couple times at the US Open. Not only don't you get paid, you have to pay them. 

 

And it is totally worth it.

Imma say it ... Scottie is on track to be the modern Jack.

 

Jack had his moments but by and large, he won by just playing better golf than anyone else. 

 

Scottie didn't  do anything especially extraordinary other than just play far better golf than anyone else in the field.

Bryson's recovery from a bad first round getting a lot of attention but Wyndham Clark was very impressive with 76 - 66 - 66 - 65 for T4.

 

Nice play from Rickie Fowler too.

 

Another player it seems like everyone has been hammering lately - obviously for different reasons to Wyndham.

100% agree but the PGA is so scared of the NFL eating into viewers (and then can't move to Saturdays in that window due to college football).  I still wish the season went into November like the old days.  IMO golf fans will watch when golf is on.

It's called bartering. In turn for volunteering ~20 hours at next year's US Open the volunteers get a ticket package worth about $1,200. That's $60/hour. I wouldn't do it but I can see how it's a good value proposition for many.

Parking lot duty, even worse at an off-site shuttle lot, is my fear as well and why I wouldn't do it.

 

My friends from private clubs have done it and they work inside the ropes. That would be totally worth it.
