I thought it might be a good idea to get a thread going seen as Matty is MIA - we can let him do his detailed intro retrospectively if he so wishes 😅

 

I will be making my yearly pilgrimage on Friday, can't wait.

 

We are entering a heatwave again here in the UK and it is actually reaching us up in Scotland - it will be getting above 20C and will be around 26C Friday - Sunday, so expect some baked and running fairways. The rough is usually a none factor at the Renaissance Club but if the fairways are fiery expect to see it become part of the equation. Winds look to be light every day so I would imagine some low scores to be had...

Next time, the temperature has to be in Fahrenheit for us here in the States.

 

You must include notables for the board to argue over who's a notable.

 

Seems without photos, we are totally lost.

It made me feel good to know that you folks would have to google what 26C is in Fahrenheit as I always have to do it the other way round 😅

Well I think you are doing a grave disservice to William Thompson by choosing Celsius.

To me it makes more sense to have a freezing point of 0 and boiling point of 100, rather than 32 and 212 respectively - but each to their own. But we can save that debate for sciencewrx

Looks to be some pleasant weather with that 26 degrees.  Perfect for golf!!      I wish it were that way here where I am.  26c is a typical night time low temperature here in my area, with 35c expected this afternoon.  Well, at least in the hot weather, I can hit longer drives off the tee.  Maybe the pros in Scotland will be able to take advantage of the extra distance and roll that the warmth offers.  Should be a good one with the PGA Tour and DP World Tour

Honestly I think some folk derail a thread for the thrill of it 😂

 

It may be a US based site, but we are in the motherland now. The home of the game. We do things right over here, and that includes how we measure the temperature 😜

I haven't been to the states but have been to some hot parts of Europe plenty and what I can say is that 26C in the UK feels different to 26C in other countries, not sure why exactly.

 

We hardly ever get above 20C in Scotland though, which is rubbish for golf so i'll take 26C! 

 

I think they will eat the course up this week with the firm fairways and little winds. They will get close to a few of the par 4s off the tee. It will be interesting to see how fast they let the greens get, they usually keep them slow to cope with the wind. I wouldn't be surprised if we get the course record broken and multiple players at -7 or -8 after round 1

Jumping in for the temperature discussion. Fahrenheit is the superior temperature for what humans experience. 0 is really really cold and 100 is really really hot. Anything below or above that is a crazy extreme. Celsius is great for the temperature of water, not so much for comfort.

Autospell got me. I was trying to infer that maybe we should use K (the Kelvin - the absolute unit of temperature named in honor of Lord Kelvin, i.e. William Thomson). Just a little humor that fell flat.

Since the next couple of big events are in Scotland and Ireland, let's just agree to go with Celsius.  Seems like the right thing to do.  If needed, us fahrenheit people can just do the conversion.

All I know is that 30C is hot, and just about too hot for me to play.  26 sounds nice.  I would play every day in 20C.

2015 Dell Technologies Championship 

 

It was like a tire fire.  Out of control. 

 

It started when Motorman (trolley driver) and former WRX member, Edwin "Ted" McGhee claimed Fowler was washed up. The thread erupted with activity. I will never forget that thread.   

 

Fowler won.  Ted never posted again.
