Well, they did criticise his decision to take a 7- or 8-iron. They criticised it heavily. But I think they missed the point. It looked like he was on the upslope and far enough back to clear the lip with a half-decent contact. But he simply bladed it.

I'm planning to take top 20s on him from here on, until it no longer makes sense.

Really interesting to see the pros try to get to grips with the slower greens. Fleetwood seems to be really struggling from what they're showing on screen today. 

 

I really like coastal links courses - they're very picturesque on screen. I think it's because it reminds me of my home course here (Byneset Golf). Got some really nice views of Trondheimsfjord and in the evening it's very pretty. This pic was taken yesterday at around 1940 and temps were around 18C with a one club wind around the course. Had a lot of rain this year, so course is looking lush, otherwise, it looks pretty much like The Renaissance.

Speaking of 'Open,' Golf Channel was replaying the match with Seve dueling Watson and Langer in 1984.

 

The American announcers repeatedly called it the 'British' Open. Every single time.

 

Now, when someone says 'British Open' I wait for the 'Akshually...'

Rory and Xander were puttin' it on the course today 😏 Easily could have gone a little lower. Nice clutch par save by Hovland on 8 to stick around for the weekend. 

 

Åberg and Knapp should get good airtime tomorrow. 

 

Nice to see Harrington made it on the number. Think he outdrives a few of the guys still in it.

I agree. Jay Monahan and Keith Pelley must have been instrumental in the decision both are derided. Retrospectively I think many will have to reassess.

 

Wentworth IMO is the best regular DPWT event by a distance but this event has become something really special and the blend of the field is a big factor in that. I'm a big DPWT watcher so it might be skewed from my perspective but it must be of interest to most golf fans I'd think. If there is a finish even close to the last two years in terms of drama then it will only help.
