Ping g430 lst or 440lst?

Recommended Posts

  • poor_putting changed the title to Ping g430 lst or 440lst?

440 LST is a hell of a golf club. I'm not sure id go off what's being sold as a barometer for performance. I don't know many who have kept 430 in the bag over 440, feels like a pretty universal improvement, certainly for the drivers and woods. I didn't like the 440 hybrid as much.

I'm sure it is just because PING is on a 2 year cycle and won't release something unless it's better. HOWEVER, the same was said about the 430/425 etc especially the LST heads. The 400 series LST line has a cult following.

If you can get similar #'s out of a 430 vs a 440 and want to save some money, I'd go ahead and do it.

There are some reviews out there that indicate the 440LST to be a significant improvement on the 430LST in terms of the consistency of ball speed and spin.  Check out the Golf Magazine review on youtube.

Thanks for the info guys. I really liked the 430 lst when I hit it. Never tried the 440.

i saw a video robot testing showing the 440 being a bit more fade biased, not sure if that’s been shown elsewhere though

440LST. The feel is considerably better than the previous model, and it performs incredibly well in everything.

I think overall numbers are pretty similar but I found the 440 to feel and sound significantly better.

The G440 LST feels like something between G430 LST and G430 Max. G440 LST is a little bit less fade bias, spins a bit more, feels better than G430 LST. I found G430 LST to spin and launch too low in 9 degree, spin too high in 10.5 degree. G440 LST was basically perfect spin and launch. This was all with Ventus TR Blue 7TX.

Thanks for the info! Spin was borderline too low with 430 when I tested it but I’ve added a little speed since and spin has gone up with it. Thinking 430 might be the ticket

Thanks! Do you notice any left or right bias?

currently in AI TD but I’d prefer something more neutral

It is one of the straightest drivers I have ever use. At the very least, I do not find it draw biased.

Spin rates were comparable to my old GT3 driver but more accurate and forgiving.

440 will win on sound for most, I don't mind the 430 at all.

Looks it depends what you like at address, I've also heard the 440 can look like it has more loft at address when it doesn't.

430 has a deeper face over the 440, this is definitely a person choice on what one likes.

The 440 will be faster off the face part of the more shallow face design. Forgiveness it's hard to say but the 430 is super forgiving for what it is and I'm sure the 440 is similar.

I'm sticking with the 430 for now because it works but if I find a 440 for a good price I'll pick one up. I've also semi converted a few people into the 440 driver when they were never Ping guys in the past.

I have seen the same. It's way more consistent , spin-wise. I had the 430 LST but sometime, for some reason, the spin would drop and so would the ball. No bueno

Currently in a Smoke TD now with the heavy weight forward. Spin is still a bit high though, looking for something that spins less and is a little less fade biased.

seems like either the 440 or 430 might fit the bill

As much as I am a Ping fan I'd also suggest trying the Qi35 LS those things are spin killers.

I have a real hard time with purchasing anything Taylormade. I’m not sure why, I just can never bring myself to do it. Idk if it’s because I feel like I’m just paying for all of their sponsorships or what but I just can’t bring myself to do it.

stupid I know.

though I may have to give it a whirl, I’ve read a lot of good things about them

How would you say they compare spin wise to each other? Does one seem to spin more than the other?

and do either have a fade or draw bias?

I would say the spin seems very similar, the 440 maybe launches a hair higher.

As for bias, I think they were both neutral to slightly fade biased.  The 440 maaaaayyyyyybe a hair, hair, hair more fade biased, but I wouldn't bet my life on it.

I get it I've never owned a TM club as well but mainly cause they've never really worked for me.

But for the sake of testing to find what's best it doesn't hurt to hit one. Then if it wins buy it used so not sending TM money directly.

But to keep it on topic the Pings are totally going to win out.

I’m in the minority but I find the 430 LST more forgiving than the 440. Almost point and shoot for me. Got a touch more ball speed with the 440 but less consistent with it.

430 LST is good.  440 LST is pretty much 430 LST on roids.  Extremely forgiving for a "low spin" offering and has that cheat code built in much like the Stealth+(high toe).  It's one of the more forgiving low spin offerings off the heel as well.  FYI, I don't ever praise Ping for their drivers(irons yes), however, Ping knocked it outta the park this year with the 440 LST.
