Ping g430 lst or 440lst?

430 LST is good.  440 LST is pretty much 430 LST on roids.  Extremely forgiving for a "low spin" offering and has that cheat code built in much like the Stealth+(high toe).  It's one of the more forgiving low spin offerings off the heel as well.  FYI, I don't ever praise Ping for their drivers(irons yes), however, Ping knocked it outta the park this year with the 440 LST.

Thanks for the insight, spoke with ping later in the day yesterday. The gentleman I spoke with advised 440 is higher launching and spinning than 430. Also, that 440 was a little more fade biased. Did you notice any of those differences?

For anyone new to Ping like I am, does it seem like the 440lst feels heavy?  I am coming from a Rogue ST LS and for now went back to it, but am keeping the 440 to try later.

I’ve read they’re heavier heads. I like extra weight though. Currently playing 73 gram driver shaft (raw weight) and 6 extra grams on the driver head

I did find the G440 LST a bit more fade biased (similar to GT3)…….for me the G430 LST just want to go straight. Both the G440 LST and GT3 are easier to hit a fade with

That is kind of pings thing, and it is my belief on why their moi numbers can be so consistent. I went back to a rogue st ls td and added weights to it coming from a g430 lst.

I’m in the minority but I find the 430 LST more forgiving than the 440. Almost point and shoot for me. Got a touch more ball speed with the 440 but less consistent with it.

Same, for me forgiveness is a wash and the 430 is lower spin. Much prefer the looks of the 440 and sound is slightly better so will likely try another but didn’t love it in 10.5

Currently in a Smoke TD now with the heavy weight forward. Spin is still a bit high though, looking for something that spins less and is a little less fade biased.

seems like either the 440 or 430 might fit the bill

Have you tried Elyte TD?   I find it less fade biased than Smoke TD which you could use the 2x trade for.

I'm a fan of Ping drivers, but Elyte TD is quiet good.

I have not, I’m a little far from a retail store to try them. I guess I have less to lose that way, don’t have to buy new adapters for shafts either.

have you hit the TD TD?

Higher launching yes.  Higher spinning, not really.  Maybe 100-200 rpm more if anything.  440 LST is definitely on the slightly fade biased side which also makes it awesome sauce.  You can kinda mitigate the fade bias by playing around with the hosel settings to make it more neutral.

Thanks for confirming! Sometimes these reps don’t know what they’re talking about 😂

I give him credit for getting most of it right, lol.  Then again, maybe the 440 LST spun more for a majority of testers and I'm just an anomaly.  I also wonder if the rep said what he said about spin being higher solely from robot testing or if he included human testing results as well.

Tried out every prior version of Ping since the turbulators / composite etc, etc... the 440 lst is on par with the best feeling and sounding drivers on the market now. What a huge development for Ping. I'd say this rivals the GT2 for sound and feel. Which, quite honestly, I thought I'd never see Ping competing with Titleist in aesthetics... like ever. Function, yes. Form? not so much... Well, color me impressed.

Some flavor of the month driver.
Some driving iron for Links courses.

A hybrid to save my bad shots.
Titleist blades when I feel lucky otherwise something more forgiving.
A Vokey wedge or 2.
I hate every one of my 17 putters.

So I caved and bought a G430 lst 9° with tour chrome 75x shaft. Came in today and was able to hop on the sim and get some ball and club data.

overall this thing is stupid forgiving compared to my smoke TD. It does spin a bit high, but it’s so straight I’m willing to give up distance. Thinking of trying a couple shafts out to see if I can get the spin down a bit as I was averaging around 2800-2900 at 170 ball speed and 11ish launch.

even if I can just get it down to 2500 I’d be thrilled because of how neutral an consistent the ballflight was.

thought of potentially turning it down but I don’t really want to open the face up any more…but maybe I’ll experiment a little

Testing shafts is always fun, but switching to a lower spinning ball may be the answer here.  What ball are you playing?  Also, 2800 rpm at 170 ball speed is pretty good.  Even Rory is around 2600 rpm at 183 ball speed.

You’re probably not around about the spin….the stability of the spin likely helps with the straight flight.

I was messing around with left dash yesterday. I can rotate between XV, LD and chrom tour with fairly similar numbers at the top end of the bag, just wedges and short irons for me tha show the most separation spin wise. I’ll switch up depending on course or weather conditions. Would probably be better to just stay with one ball but can’t help myself sometimes

I hear ya.  I rotate between left dash/CT TD and not miss a beat although I might just switch to CT TD full time after I go through my last 2 boxes of left dash.  Pretty much checks all the boxes for me.

Do you see significant changes in driver spin with different golf balls? I really only get any measured differences with iron/wedge shots.

I tried the CT TD, was hoping they would be for me but too much spin in the mid irons unfortunately.

Srixons flat out perform, the seam issue still pops up though and that bothers me.

you have any experience with TP5x’s?

XV is sooooo underrated, it's not even funny.  Really sucks about the seam issue.  Love the deals they run periodically though.  I actually did go through 2 boxes of TP5x last year.  It's mid-high launch/low spin and the latest gen is best iteration, IMO with maybe the exception of the '19.

Maybe I’ll have to give the TP5x a shot again.

how is it feel and performance wise to CT or LD?
