FG17 1 iron is 17° loft.

Shaft will be .355 tip.  It may be a pain to pull, there has been much posted over the years about threaded hosels in the Wilson Staff iron world, and having to unscrew the clubhead from the shaft.  Great fun.

I think these might be the extreme press fit ones. Best way to describe. Not impossible but patience and persistence with heat and some type of shaft prying device. Shaft pulling vise or simple old school pry bar method. Doing just one shouldn’t be horrible but if it takes much longer than you’d think won’t be a surprise.

Fantastic clubs, dark years quality wise for Wilson. Seems like they cut corners on their chrome plate process but made up for it with a club head that will never come loose.

There’s nothing wrong with that Wilson branded TT Dynamic shafts in them. I’ve been told it’s difficult enough people often upgrade to a more premium weight sorted shaft cuz of the effort sometimes required.

I can confirm this is the case. I read that the cavity into which they were pressed is 0.340. If you reshaft this needs to be reamed out some, either with a purpose made tapered reamer ( expensive) or sanding out with a homemade mandrell covered in emery paper ( as i did). I have encounter reshafted clubs where the shafts only go part way into the hosel. The results aren't good.

Yeah ... I just ordered a new 16.5 Mizuno Pro 225. Don't feel like dealing with all that.

I hand reamer bit is $35. If you don't already have a handle, you need one of those too. It's easy and quick work if you have a vise. I've done several sets and individual wedges and would encourage anyone who enjoys working on clubs to give it a whirl.

I’m all for the modern, especially Miz stuff, but there’s something special about the old “snake killers”. Loft really doesn’t translate and there’s no question the modern low loft goes farther. It’s also got a lot more built into it, even the “stick” clubs. Masochistic or not you got very little helping you other than that every once in awhile pure swing with the old stuff and that’s off a damn tee peg.

Fun to screw around with one every once in awhile. I have 3 of them. A normal Mac and Wilson and the 3rd is someone’s monstrosity experiment. 43 inch long, 6.5 Rifle shaft, super flat lie, Golf Smith forged cavity back component head. That thing is a riot to swing!

I did something similar with and Eye 2 1 iron in the early 90s.  Brown color code and extended to 41.5 inches.  D7 swingweight so still manageable back then.  That thing was money.  There were courses on which I played entire rounds without a wood ever leaving the bag.

I still have that club.  i would try it again but I just had a new crown installed on one of my teeth.
