Sander Wedge or Niblick? (Hickory)

If you have to choose, would you "bag" an 8 Iron/Niblick 48° or "Sander" 56°?

 

And if you have to choose also, would you include a Spoon or Mid-Iron?

Knowing nothing else ...

 

 

I've found that the niblick lacks "bounce" but doesn't seem to bother me much on the packed-sand I usually see and is more versatile.

I also found I hit my 2 iron only about 25 yards further than my 6-iron pitching mashie last outing. Is this a sign the long iron is just hard to get good contact on? I use it to hit it further than the spoon but now I am reduced to using it more as a exorcet missle style rescue club.

I've found very few usages for a spoon, partially because the ones I've had I hit too high. I rely heavily on my mid-iron and driving-iron for both off the tee and fairway clubs.

I don't think I'd choose between a niblick and a sand wedge, I would want to carry both.

It depends on what style of courses you play and an honest appraisal of your skillset.

My bag over 30 years is driver, well lofted spoon (versatile) , midiron, jigger (versatile), mashie niblick with bounce, niblick with bounce and Mills mallet putter. There is a choice of 2 jiggers with loft variances. 

I've played 5 Grails, 2 'international Trophy' USA and Italy fiascos, won all Swedish trophies available to me inc. scratch, all available Scottish trophies available to me inc. scratch, Seniors Championship at Carnoustie and the English Founders trophy at Rye.
