The askgolfnut video. Right about 4:40 he shows the following slides which appear to be straight from Mizuno marketing dept for the release.

Biggest takeaway for me from his site testing (for what that’s worth) is that that spin low, same as ZX7 mkii.

I’d agree that some of the communication on shape and sole hasn’t been clear though. But I’m definitely interested to try these out since I’ve always been relatively shallow.

Thanks Quig.
I posted in the thread these pics dropped in before this one that I was just at the local shop looking at S3s. Compared em to other major OEMs players CBs. S3s are noticeably smaller. Seeing how much smaller the S1 is compared to the S3…. 😬

Now that I look at these. The are just copies of the takomo blade. Might as well just get those. They have a channel too…

They look stunning.  What kind of stinks however is apparently they are going to be releasing additional irons to this platform sometime in January?  I’d like to have all of the new launch to test and see about possibly combo them.  The wait is killing me now…

I really think its just going to be the rest of the 2xx line. This is direct replacement for 241. The s3 was for the jpx tour. Likely s2 will be the 243 replacement, s4 -245

I wonder why they didn’t add the leading edge bevel on these? The S3s are some of the smoothest irons through the turf I’ve played.

All of the S line will be more on the players side than the 243. The 243 and 245 will be refreshed every two years compared to 4+ years for the S line.

I’m a lifelong Mizzy guy (very 1st set was T-ZOID PROS 😍 and several other sets since) so it kinda pains me to say… I actually think the Takomas look better. The channel on the S1s is just too big/deep for my taste. Sure they will perform & they look beautiful otherwise.

Oh dang!! I was kidding. This could cause a WRX civil war!! lol

The issue with Takomo irons and pretty much all DTC irons as they are all coming from the same place basically. Is they do not look good at address.

Oh I know. Just an honest opinion based on the back of the blade visual. If I get roasted, I get roasted 🤷🏼‍♂️

*Will balance things out actually. As I’ve been roasted for basically saying the same thing that you just did regarding Takoma/DTC. Haha.
I also laughed at their “YouTube Inspired” marketing tagline for the Bryan guys wedges. Upset a few Stans.

I seriously cannot wait to test these new irons.  Was going to pull the trigger on the “new” T150 I currently play and update my bag.  Now it’s a FULL STOP on that move.  I hit the S3 and in all honesty the look and feel just blew the doors off of T150, no offense.   Yes, I’m getting a little more distance because they’re jacked irons.  That actually has hurt me in some cases depending on the lie/distance I’m at.   I told my pro and he is in total agreement, I’d rather go back to traditional lofts and just practice on hitting a proper iron shot but at least play w clubs that for me look and feel this good w Mizuno.   I bagged Mizzy years ago and then Titleist made it into my bag.   The look and feel of these I think a divorce is in order.  👍🏻😂image.png.b4f35e82b9d5d1b9046d27a914e7fff3.png

If you hit the S3 and thought, these are just a tad too large… I bet you’ll love the S1! Haha

Same first thought as well.  For those of you too young to have seen these back in the day, Wilson made two versions, a late 80s model, then a mid 90s model:

This seems odd, S1/S3 are well beyond anything 95% of the public can play.

Gorgeous no doubt, but tiny market for these 2

I remember when folks like Mizuno and Maruman had three to five blades on their books, Mizuno had TP9, TP10, TP11, and TP19 in production at one time.

Of course as tech improved they proliferation of forged game improvement grew and blades decreased as their look and feel improved. Sales dropped as player habits changed, but too most golfers they see blades as manufacturers premium product even if it's "look, don't touch".

There's always a speed and strike cut-off, but I think a lot more players could game at least a couple if blades. They're much more playable these days.

I see that this has confused a couple ppl.
My honest opinion. As someone that has said a few times here that I play the irons I like to look at/feel bcs I shoot basically the same scores w/players clubs or GIs. The S3 long irons are indeed small/intimidating to me. Considering the S1s are even smaller…

But it’s always great to have more options for ppl 😊

They are both a bit beyond my skill set, but absolutely thinking about trying S3 again with my actual shaft.
