Downer after a tournament?

We had a 3-day club championship this past weekend. Never had a 3-day stroke play event before. In the past it was stroke play, then match play. But this had a different vibe. Need to hold it together for three days.

 

Anyway, I played well, came in 7th, which I was aiming for a top 10 (I'm a 2.x and there are many scratch and + caps in the championship flight). I even beat a few of those guys.

 

But then I wake up yesterday, and even today, and I'm down. Not for how I played, but bummed it's over. This ever happen to anyone else? I actually get this feeling after the Masters too. 

 

Got the Senior CC in a couple of weeks, so I have that to look forward to!

Last time I played 3 tournament days straight I wasn't bummed, just tired.

 

It's surprisingly tiring to be super focused and grind for 3 straight days.

What did you shoot in the Masters? 😀

 

I don't compete as such but I think it's pretty common to invest time/emotion/whatever in something that is meaningful and have a bit of a letdown whether it's an event or a trip, etc. even with or maybe even more so having a great experience vs. a bad one.

 

Better get yourself fired up again!

These type of "circle the date on the calendar" events have you invest a lot of physical and mental/emotional energy. You are just completely exhausted. Then you look at the calendar again and realize you have a year to wait for the next one.
