Or maybe there are people that neither hate him, nor are jealous of him, but rather have a negative view of his behavior in this one specific situation.  Is that possible?  Or is everything always black and white these days, either you’re a fanboy or a hater?

The guy is making a great living playing golf with Tiger, Rory and a bunch of elite golfers and athletes. Goes to majors, plays phenomenal courses

 

From what I can tell, it makes a lot more sense to be jealous than do dislike him lol

He’s also the equivalent of a reality tv actor, just on YouTube and not a network.  Some people don’t care for the schtick.  Doesn’t mean they are jealous….

 

As someone else pointed out, the fallacy is in that people are saying you have to be one or the other as if they they the only options, which is wrong

if anyone at the pga tour is trying to bring followers from any influencer theyre in the wrong business those that dont follow the pga tour that are elsewhere wont stick even if they try theyll just be disappointed in the format's differences

modified stableford scoring is part of the legacy of golf and has been around longer than the internet.

Normal stableford has no negative scores. It's a great system to play. I don't think it's a great system for a tour event, normal or modified..  It's just foreign and not what people are accustomed to. Even i glanced at the leaderboard a few times over the weekend and my eyes glazed over and i moved on..

Jealous?  Who would want to be jealous of a guy that has no real talent?  Oh, that's right - he creates content.  

 

Perhaps your kids decided to take the game more seriously as they matured. Believe it or not, it happens a lot with kids and sports.  

 

To give full credit to an internet personality is basically saying, I failed at supporting my kids in a sport and referred them to a video guy.  Or it means your kids observed that you're not very good at the game and searched out a different source of guidance. 

 

Furthermore, this same guy, who you identified as a "role model", doesn't have the guts to show off "his talents" by playing in a televised event.  So, why did he not play?

In all fairness, I didn't know who Grant Horvat was until recently. I do know that athletes aren't role models, though, because they'll let you down every time.

 

I'm definitely not jealous or envious of him. I just think that most YouTube content is silly and a waste of time, but others swear by internet video entertainment value, and to that I say each to their own.

I’ll admit it - I’m jealous of the guy. He’s making a living playing golf for fun. He is brand ambassador for taylormade, which I’m assuming results in free gear. He’s getting to play some pretty awesome courses with his buddies.  My understanding him, Wesley and George Bryan just had an all expense paid trip (invitation/paid by the R&A) to royal portrush the week before the open tourney and played two rounds.  
 

seems way better than my current job sitting at a desk for 40 hours. 😂

i often watch youtube golf to see the courses - give me a youtube produced round 1000x over a pga nbc or cbs produced round of golf with their top down tower cameras hovering over greens and incessant zooming in on putts eliminating any backdrop of player or fan reaction to putt or sense of distance the ball travels over the green. give me the side wide angle of a 50 yard shot over the zoomed in tower view with a cut away to the ball hitting the green. 

 

its unbelievable the pga has yet to figure out how to effectively show off a golf course and shots during coverage. but the camera guys specialize in capturing the ball in 10x zoom as it flies towards the green or the eagerness to start zooming in on a putt the instant the putter makes contact on the ball. 

 

pebble beach on youtube is so much better than any commerical filled tower cam views nbc has to offer
