Through the first two rounds of stroke play, your winner is Grace Kim (2029) at 6 under. Amazingly, only one bogie through 36 holes. (Maybe another thread but is bogie avoidance the key?)

 

I don't know a ton about the girls' game, but my son's friend made the cut at 2 under!

GC is legit.  The best of FL's deep '29 class.

 

Not a very big girl, but enough pop to compete at college distances.  Wedges are her superpower.

Looks like he's won three Nationwide events, three Golden Bear events and has a T-55 at the US Open to his credit.  Dude could definitely play, and probably still can.

Finally watched the final round on tape delay. Aphrodite was so nails. Just so chill for such a young girl.

I actually didn’t like any of what I saw. None of the girls looked like they were having fun and unless they won their match I didn’t see a single smile.

Met her at Northern Junior in 2023 when she kicked butt on the entire field as a 13-14 year old...very solid.

 

Golf is hard. 
So many girls that I've watched as top performers at ages 12-15, and then fade for the rest of high school and/or college.

Some happen with confidence, some with body changing, and some because of other distractions (boyfriend?) 

 

The same thing happens with boys. I recall Henry Guan kicking butt in 9th grade at Invitationals against 14-18 year olds, only to see others pass him up in the past two years. It will be interesting to see if another top 9th grader Jadon Soong can keep up his momentum from past few years. The point being, just as in the PGA tour, there are no guarantees & anything can happen.

Does Scheffler smile when he is struggling and not in contention? I think the only players who smile when they not winning are LIV guys as they still banking coin even if DFL...

They are junior golfers. It’s not their job. They will have a roof over their head and food on the plate. Regardless of the level they are playing at they should be having fun. And I can assure you that the liv guys are not having fun these days. Lots of temper tantrums happening out there.

I don't know....I think some of these girls are playing with college recruiting on the back of their minds. Do well and they're off to a top-10 program on a scholarship. So yeah some may not be playing just for fun but with the huge weight of expectations by families and countries, as well as money implications (i.e. scholarships).

No doubt these girls have a lot of pressure on them and starting from a young age. My sense, however, is that most of them (especially the international girls) are wealthy & scholarships do not matter. Depending on whether they have good academics & test scores, many took take Ivy golf with zero money over full scholarship offers (unless they get Stanford).
