If you want to get into the zero torque game, this is probably the cheapest way to do it

The putter is actually pretty solid from rolling it here in the office. But the comment was more about some Fletch 3 jokes on my Instagram Live last night!

Seems like almost every lower-torque putter that comes out looks better than the LAB heads. This PXG looks really good to me. The hosel is an improvement.

If only they could make their logo a little more understated and classy instead of yelling at us in giant all caps.

Fletch 3 is a cinematic masterpiece starring John Hamm, or it's an okay way to kill 90 minutes on a cross-country flight.

I would opt for the Hellcat over the movie.

These zero-torque putters are all ball bearings nowadays.

Because they’re just toe up putters.

Correct. And none are actually zero torque, except maybe the Axis1 because it is the only single-axis design.

I’d love to see some true independent testing of these various heads. The “Revealer” is a marketing device.

But to what end?   So that someone can claim their putter is zero torquier?

I care about 1) being able to make more putts 2) with a putter that I can stand to look at  3) not having to skip a golf trip to buy it.

I’m not arguing with you. You may have nailed it. I don’t know of any proof of how much zero torque even matters in making putts and I don’t play one. But I do know the Axis1 is the only one in that space that felt different to me from a traditional design, the only one in which the putt came off like it is “on rails” as they say. But I also did like the Edel toe up designs, which are more like this new PXG. I like the look of this one. I would play this one before I’d go to a center shaft, which I do not aim well.

Anyway, the Axis1 is also the only one with the CG aligned with the axis of the shaft AND the center of the strike point on the face. Their patent is for having both characteristics. They had to move the hosel more out front to accomplish that and we all think it looks funny. But it is very stable. The performance on mishit distance control is excellent. The rest have the CG aligned with the shaft axis but also back from the face, meaning they are still dual axis and some level of torque will still exist. If I were to play one, it would be the Axis1, and I do consider their TM Elite to be an engineering feat because it’s hard to do what they did there with a nearly all metal design. But I’m not convinced it is all that impactful to completely zero out torque. It’s not like everyone who goes to these becomes a lights out putter.

Until I experience otherwise, I still think head shape, head weight, total putter build weight, alignment package and hosel location are more important. So the PXG would still be a possibility for me.

Look at Wyndham Clark. Guy looks completely uncomfortable with his LAB putter, like he dreads putting. We watched him missing the hole entirely from inside 6 feet.  So does it matter that the face stays square?

Well....I ordered one....always been a NP 2 style person.  Tried the original directed force years ago when it came out but hated the shape and feel.  In practice sessions it was great and I could hit 5 putts and they would all stop on the same line butting up to each other.  However, on the course the odd shape made it hard to align short putts and the feel made speed control an issue.  I saw the blade style from LAB and it was better but something didn't fit my eye.  This one looks spot on IMO.  Can't wait to try it.

I just bought one $200 on sale now. My favorite putter was a Odessey Toe Up putter from a few years back. It went where I aimed it, but it was hard to aim. This seems to check the boxes. Currently playing the PXG Blackjack, which I have been pleased with, but I’d like to go back to more of a blade putter. Figured for $200 this is worth a try.

Yes I currently have a odyssey toe up 1 in the rotation and this looks functionally identical but the hosel is wayyyyyyy cleaner here

Maybe you should review what they did. They had players test all the supposed “zero torque putters” but they did not test whether the putters themselves are “zero torque.” (The Revealer does not test that either, it is a sales device.) They also did nothing to prove they are better for making putts than other putters. They are all only compared to each other. That web site’s “testing” is more or less a joke. Look at their Most Wanted testing. Deeply subjective, sometimes ridiculous.

What I am saying is that almost all of the “zero torque putters” are not zero torque. And it remains unclear that pursuing zero torque is even worthwhile. Scotty Scheffler simply switched to a traditional mallet and the claw grip and for him that was a gamechanger. I’m not convinced torque even matters. The Spider is a much more proven winning design, torque and all.
