I have lost my swing

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Serious struggle with long game, very steep divots (even topped a few out of the rough) misses with irons are usually big pulls left and goes both directions with driver.

I have always struggled with unfolding my right arm correctly on the downswing along with hips spinning out on backswing and downswing.

I haven’t saw the ball come out the flight window I usually see in over 2 Months, scores have sky rocketed along with this.

any help is hugely appreciated

Looks decent in slow mo. Post real speed, could be a huge tempo thing.

Pivot and where your upper body is relative to it appears to have improved since your other post.  Ball position is biased towards a draw and swing characteristics suit a fade.  What the shot shape intent?

I’m a drawer of the ball and that’s the intended shot but I have not been able to hit it in a long time

I see....thats going to present the problems with the conflict between intent and likelihood. Any video from when you were swinging better?

If not, I suggest taking practice swings where your lead heel gets closer to the target when you sense the club at p2.  After getting used to the sensation, the timing of the lead heel movement is the same (waist high) during real swings, but it may not actually move.  This is ok as we're looking for the clockwise torque of the lead leg to get you better situated for a draw.  If you film both the practice swing/real swing from face on, you'll see your tail bone closer to the target than your head in transition.  Currently, they're stacked on top of each other both at the top of backswing and in transition.  See Rory video for what it should look like:

I wanted to see older swings because some players organize for it at p1, get it in the backswing, or transition into it (rory).

Really appreciate the in depth feedback, I’ve been trying to find an old video of when I was swinging well but no joy, pressure movement is something that I regularly have to keep on top of, if I don’t get left I can’t get the arms down properly and then it’s a domino effect.

Thanks again! Just needed another set of eyes

You didn’t lose your swing.  It’s a good swing.  Lead are supinated early and that makes work into the body early and bring the club head out early.

What causes that? And how does one avoid early lead arm supination?

A bad intent

Anxiety about squaring the club early

Trying to stay connected

Accelerating the lead arm late or incorrectly

Those are 3 possibles, they all look the same

This very well could be simply a ball.position issue.

Ball is too far back. Great ball position for a trap draw, but not much else. Move the ball forward and then dont pull the hands inside on the way down so much.

Hit half shots where you swing the club toward where the 2nd baseman plays in baseball (you're at home plate). You're Scottish, iirc, so another visual would be to swing toward the right half of a soccer net if you were standing from the free kick spot. Not the right post, the right half...

If he moves the ball forward and doesn't change anything else, I'm pretty sure the ball is going foul off the 3rd base line because he'll be coming across it.

I have the same early supination issue that Monte pointed out, and it's hard not to hit it left.

From DTL, the shaft points left at P6, since the clubhead is out in front of the hands. Red line traces the direction of the shaft.

I'm super familiar with identifying this one in my own swing, currently working on fixing it.

So as to your question above.  If the X-men character Quicksilver ran in right now and pronated his left arm 10*, the arm would be a few inches more away from the body, the club would be behind the hands and that ball would be smashed.
