Oakley Golf Specific Heaters

Many years ago, around the time David Duvall was playing at his best and was probably Oakley's top ambassador for wrap around shades on the PGA Tour, I bought a set of Oakley Golf Specific Heaters.  At the time it cost around £180.

 

The set included:

1 folding M Frame

2 nose pieces

1 soft case (doubling as a wipe)

1 zip hard case

1 G30 Iridium lens

1 other lense which I can't identify.

 

The whole thing has lasted well, having owned the kit for probably around 25 years, but the lenses are showing signs of the coatings deteriorating.

 

I've contacted Oakley and await a reply but I'm not hopeful that they can be replaced.  So, I'm looking into alternatives.  I know it is possible to source Oakley copies that will fit the M Frame and they aren't half bad!

 

But I need to identify the unidentified lens so that I can better source a replacement.

 

Did anyone else buy any of these back in the day and can anyone help me out with the mystery lens?

 

Of course I am assuming that the two lenses that came with the set, were set as standard.

Have you tried contacting Oakley?

 

What tint is the other lens?   At the time the G30 and the VR28 or VR50 (both bronze) were the ones they recommended for golf.

Oakley website/call, or maybe just buy a new pair.  25 years is a pretty good life for a set of glasses.

 

Funny story related to Oakleys.  About a month ago I was on the short iron range at my club and I had my Oakley Flak Jackets on my hat.  They fell off and I stepped directly on them with the full weight of my body in soft spikes.  The result was a sickening plastic snapping and cracking sound and a pile of parts that used to be my shades.  Both lenses out, both arms off.  I thought, damn now I gotta buy new glasses, as I picked them up like a hurt bird.  To my surprise, nothing was broken or even scratched.  Everything snapped back together and they still look brand new.  A few years back I did the similar thing to a pair of Maui Jim golf shades, not even a full step on them, and they were DOA.  Impossible to repair.  Oakleys take a licking and keep on ticking.
