A New Chapter for GolfWRX- We are now part of the Pro Shop family

Some of you have been on this ride with us since the very beginning—when this whole thing was just a few of us gear junkies looking for a cleaner, better place to talk golf. No spin. No agendas. Just golfers talking golf, freely and passionately. That’s what started GolfWRX. And it’s what still defines it today.

 

Over the last two decades, we’ve grown into the most trusted golf community on the internet. We’ve done that together. With no outside funding, no retail motives, no shortcuts. Just a deep love for the game, for great gear, and for each other.

 

Ryan (Gxgolfer) and I had to look in the mirror and think hard about how to protect our beloved WRX. We built this place alongside all of you, and we were worried that without the right partner—someone who could guide us, invest in us, and help us grow—we might slowly fade. We never set out to divest. But after meeting Chad Mumm, David Miller, Joe Purzycki, and the Pro Shop team, that relationship grew into real trust and respect.

 

And now, we’re taking the next step.

 

GolfWRX is joining forces with Pro Shop.

 

Pro Shop is a golf media and commerce company backed by the PGA TOUR and built by creative, golf-obsessed people who share our values. They’re the team behind Skratch, Full Swing, and Sugarloaf Social Club. Most importantly: they get it.

 

They understand what makes this place special—you. They’re not coming in to change who we are. They’re here to help us build more, dream bigger, and future-proof WRX for the next generation of golfers.

 

Let me say this clearly:

• The forums aren’t going anywhere.
• We’ll stay independent in voice, mission, and culture.
• We’ll keep putting members first, just like we always have.
• This doesn’t change who we are—Ryan and I will still be here, just as involved as ever.

 

What changes?

 

We’ll get more creative resources. We’ll gain better PGA TOUR access. We’ll have the horsepower to innovate, improve the forums, expand our content, and build the best version of WRX yet.

 

I know change can feel unsettling. But this isn’t about selling out. It’s about doubling down on what we’ve always believed: GolfWRX is built by and for core golfers. Period.

 

We’ve always said, “Take the high road.” We’ve always believed in integrity, in unbiased opinions, in a clean and respectful place to share ideas. That’s not changing. I wouldn’t be doing this if it were.

 

From the bottom of my heart—thank you. For helping build something real. For holding us to a high standard. For caring enough to keep this place what it is. With this step, I believe we can honor our roots and write the next great chapter together.

I joined less than a year ago and have amassed a love for GolfWRX I never knew possible before entering the forums as a spectator and contributor. Following along with the new Inside the ropes series, admiring the club Junkieness of BK and following a little to closely to Greg’s WITB pics has become a routine in my life due to my passion in golf and the way you created this environment. I look forward to all of what the future holds for GolfWRX and can I interview for the next available job opening. 🏌🏻

Well many thank to you. Over 870 posts and a 4.3 index means you are an active member and a real good golfer. This move helps insure our ability to maintain the access for those WITB's and that is not a small thing. Shooting video at PGA Tour events is rare and we intend to develop that side of our content more and more. Thank you!

Thank you. I was so active for the first 10 years and less so in the last 10 years. Getting this beast off the ground was awesome and our community is near and dear to my heart. Thank for the support being a ClubWRX member as well.

This year I started to be a lot more active in the forum and I find that the people here are some of the nicest, wise and mature individuals I've come across online.

This has been a very emotional and reflective time for the WRX Team and the future looks extremely bright as Richard has pointed out.  Many things we wanted to do, WE will be able to do. 
 

The GolfWRX family is joining a much bigger group that continues our partnership with world class partners, like the PGA Tour and other well known VCs.
 

The delay to the forums communication involved some other business notifications that internally needed to be done and consideration for employees.
 

We were always going to respond to post by membership, as this is a membership driven forum, and post something official as things sorted out but the weekend came into play as well as some world premieres we hope you all are watching.

 

Richard and I are still here but now as part of a bigger organization and it is intended the team will remain intact and grow.

What's coming down the line will really cement the GolfWRX legacy.

And truth is, way too many folks here I enjoy, many of whom I've had the great privilege to meet and/or play golf with - and I'm like a mini annuity for @MonteScheinblum as a result of one of the best progress threads ever started by @Schnee many moons ago (and my being allergic to serious practice on occasion). Where else we going to talk about the last set of irons we'll ever need to buy about once every year or so, lol? Or read about a golf announcer someone actually likes once every ten years or so? Or find out Scottie has invited @Ferguson to his birthday party next year? Guilty pleasures . . .

Congrats to you guys! I was a lurker for a long time and this place is a wealth of knowledge and great community.

 

That said citing Sugarloaf is honestly a major negative for me about how I expect this will go considering post acquisition they have become completely soulless compared to what it was

Well we are still here so I can’t see how that can happen. Thank you for your perspective though. Our membership makes this place tick. Sure our team at the office makes sure we are serving fast pages, security and of course weekly coverage out on tour and front page content. 
 

But our membership drives the culture and content in the forums. We will be here support improvements that we believe you want.

It looks like an exciting new step for GolfWRX.  Hopefully our hunky Knudson is staying on board!

I think having more access to the PGA tour will be awesome. I've really enjoyed the "Inside The Ropes" series, so looking for that to only get better and better!

Not that you all asked - but I'd love to see this partnership leveraged to offer more insight and access for the members. AMAs or Live streams with tour reps, product reps... maybe even some tour players that are just sick enough to talk gear with us.

I’m optimistic though I’m sure there will be some changes that will irritate me. The switch to the new site software comes to mind but for the most part that was an improvement. However, if the overall essence of what WRX is remains the same I’ll be able to adjust to change. And I’m a yell at clouds old guy. 
 

For now I trust the WRX guys to protect what they’ve created.

GolfWRX has been one of my daily drivers for over a decade. It’s always homepage—>classifieds, then all y’all’s WITBs. I love the community here as much as I love my Yururi Flat Back blades which I first saw deep in the forums. 
 

I post a lot on X so believe me when I say I’ve got thick skin so feel free to talk as much 💩about Happy Gilmore 2 as you want! 
 

We don’t have Big Plans to make changes here, only to invest and add resources to make it the best it can be. Love all the great suggestions in this thread as well! 
 

I'm currently on vacation with my family but will do my best to respond on this thread. I also know that “showing” is gonna be better than “telling” when it comes to our stewardship of this place so you can bet we will be super focused on listening to your feedback.

I’m confident the member based community will keep this from being a skratch/SSC type of change for the far worse. The vast knowledge of members has always been what’s made it special. When I first saw this my initial reaction was another good thing ruined, but I don’t think you could take away the good parts of this site if you tried. 
 

If we’re being positive and hopeful for good change my only request would be an app.
